    Vee-birth

That is hard to answer. I think the berth is fine in the 22 and the 25, but it isn't huge. I always wish it had more leg room, head room, and was easier to get into and out of. But with that said, it is doable, and solo it's great. The tomcat? It checks the boxes on all my wishes, but I don't go...

    Low RPM at WOT?

I do not trust that tachometer at all. And yeah you should get close to 30 mph out of it running full throttle. I was a bit surprised with mine the other day when I hit 30 mph with my wife and two other very large and heavy passengers.

Adding 4 five gallon fuel tanks to the bow?

Lack of visual is the main reason I wouldn't do it. And that I don't want them falling off! But, you can probably tie knots better than I can....lol....

Adding 4 five gallon fuel tanks to the bow?

I can't imagine that amount of weight will be a real issue, but I am not in love with storing stuff on the small bow deck of CD 22 for all the reasons already mentioned. I read in a previous post that 5 gallons in the stern along with your own weight can swamp the boat. I'm sure it's possible...

    Engine making oil fix

Agreed. I am starting to reluctantly think this particular engine might have a porosity issue in the casting, or a small crack or bad gasket somewhere that isn't impacting compression.

    Almost run down

People are crazy....you can count on that! Sometimes they also are not paying any attention at all, have had way too many beverages, are high as a kite, or just don't give a crap. There have been plenty of times people have done something similar while we've been on the water. Sadly, I just sort...

2007 Cruiser 22 Aft deck damage

There is no way of knowing until to jump into it and that is the honest truth. As far as repairing it? It's going to be basically what Bob took the time to outline. I strongly suspect you will find some rot and I can't believe those L brackets were even put in as a "fix". If you can get it for...

    RI Family of 4 (kids ages 4 & 2) WTB 22 or 25 Cruiser

You can find a 25 for under 60k on occasions. And I have seen a couple for 55k that were decent enough. But a 40k boat that doesn't need a bunch of work? That is great deal where you should not be dragging your feet. I am one of those that prefer to be using the boat, rather than working on it....

    suzuki DF175 hp performance figures

I think for your situation, I would plan on 2 mpg for your extended trip knowing that will give you some reserve just in case. I'm surprised people are getting close to 3 mpg in certain situations, but I suppose with a light boat it's possible. When I run all over PWS, where there is little fuel...

    suzuki DF175 hp performance figures

I'm not sure I remember anyone posting with a 175hp on the CD 25, but there are probably a few out there I have forgotten or those having yet to post. The majority of the folks on here seem to have the 150 hp outboard. With that said, I wouldn't expect substantially different fuel burn numbers...

    1982 22 Classic Repower

I doubt you'll notice much difference considering how close those weights are. But a lighter and smaller kicker could offset some of that weight. A 9.9 is not going to move it any faster than hull speed.

Cruiser 22 with some interior paint peeling

I agree. And I would probably just grind that out and repair as usual as I doubt it's structural where it is.

Cruiser 22 with some interior paint peeling

I'm not going to drone on and on about why I think it is an adhesion issue, but that is what I see in the pictures. If the glasswork is cracked behind the paint, which I couldn't tell from the pictures, then something is moving that probably should not be. And then it's not adhesion any longer...

Twin Mercurys 40hp EFI - double starter failure?

Thank you for posting what you found. And, I'm glad you got it fixed and going again. I've had starters do just what you described if they sat a long while. But never like you experienced. You added to our collective knowledge :-)

Twin Mercurys 40hp EFI - double starter failure?

In reflection, I think I would check and see if you have a good solid zero ohm ground going to both of your starting batteries to the outboards. Spinning starters without engagement is usually the solenoid...usually. But maybe there is a bit of corrosion on the wire that engages the solenoid...

What is the most efficient cruising speed?

I have logged an hour or two on my boat and found your numbers to be perfectly reasonable. Thanks for sharing them. As somebody noted up in the thread, 17-18 mph does seem to be the best cruising speed, in regards to efficiency, for my boat too. I have an idea why....maybe because of a sweet...

    All chain rode for TC255?

Sure you can do it, but what you are suggesting is not needed at all. I happen to like Bob's suggestions quite a lot.

Twin Mercurys 40hp EFI - double starter failure?

Wow. It's completely possible, although certainly not probably, that you went through 2 starters on that trip if everything checks out like you said. But it is suspect and weird. They are on separate batteries and all so there really is no common theme, except these starters apparently last...

    12v Water Pump

I prefer the self priming diaphragm pumps with a pressure switch myself. Not that the centrifugal pumps mentioned don't work, because they do.

    LSA fuel pump suggestions

The LS series is awesome. I wish I had one in something! My experience with electric fuel pumps that die way too often is they are not staying cool enough. You didn't mention where this pump is. In-tank pumps stay cool because of the liquid in the tank. These generally live a very long life if...
