Convince me, vertical or horizontal windlass.

I spent 25 years in marine retail and wholesale sales Vertical windlasses were known to be replaced regularly, maybe 5 years if lucky Horizontals were multiples of that life span. The vertical pours all that bottom sand and grit right into the seal great for retailers. Not so good for customers...

    Question re C22 weight increase

Welcome aboard, lots of great folks and ideas here Pay no attention to weights in the factory website, real world they are way out. They might have weighed a bare hull and deck long ago. Figure on a very light 22 at 3500 lbs single or twin, light on everything. If you go like a lot of us...

    Prices of used C-Dorys

High quality costs money. When you look at the windows, electrics and build you'll see why the price, not many production boats are vacuum bagged and then hull/deck bonded in molds. It all counts for rugged quality Here in Canada a new 22 will run $100k Cdn or about $75k US before electronics...

    08/12 - 08/14 - Powell River BC, Canadian CBGT

That run can get plenty heaped up in a strong wind, glad you got in ok Blowing into the high 20's here. 28 knots as we came into Newcastle marina this afternoon. Masts are moaning and whistling on the sailboats If you're out it'll be bumpy

    C-Dory 22 ?

Ours lives in the cockpit, camperback has blackout panels and we hang a shower curtain, very private and roomy Only aboard full time for up to 11 months but worked well, and it's tucked in the corner and always available, way more civilized than most boat heads

    08/12 - 08/14 - Powell River BC, Canadian CBGT

I've been thumped about plenty on Georgia Strait so now employ a stategy that works well. Couple summers back left Smuggler in calm with Ballenas "only" 17 ouch 4 ft stuff on this side. Carolyn came up with the 10 knot rule, it's quite sound actually! We'll miss seeing everyone, will be in...
