    CPAP anyone?

I love this place. I can count on quick answers from people who have been there before me. Thanks to all for the quick responses. Sunbeam - As much as I enjoyed getting the boat ready last winter and spring I enjoyed the fishing this summer and fall more!

    CPAP anyone?

Is anyone using CPAP aboard running from the 12 volt system? That's running off the batteries, no shore power. After several fishing trips this year that involved sleeping aboard two, three, or four nights each trip I've decided that I really don't want to skip sleeping with my CPAP machine even...

    tackle organization

I think you'll be happy with that setup. Mine has worked out very well positioned right by the cabin door. Just reach in, slide the drawer open, grab what's needed and right back to fishing without tripping over tackle boxes or accidentally dumping them all over the deck.

Who was the C-Brat at Beaufort NC in Taylors Creek this week

Yep. Went through Statesville going down on Monday and coming back on Thursday. Beaufort Inlet is a long way from Asheville but it is still my favorite fishing area.

Who was the C-Brat at Beaufort NC in Taylors Creek this week

Thanks for the info Lanlocked. We fished the turn basin, down the channel, the Navy ramp at Radio island, inside the inlet, outside the inlet, in the inlet, behind Shackleford Banks and the ocean from the inlet east to Cape Lookout. We didn't go west to the artificial reefs. We caught a lot of...

Who was the C-Brat at Beaufort NC in Taylors Creek this week

Was it a 22 Angler or Cruiser you saw? I was all over that area Tuesday and Wednesday (10th and 11th) in my Angler fishing. I just got back home about an hour ago. And how did you manage to catch Spanish and Blues? I caught everything except Spanish and Blues, first time that's ever happened to...

    OLDER

Good luck. I've got two 48 quart Igloos I've been using for step ladders since the mid 80's. I've had to replace the hinges and drains a few times but they still hold me up. The 96 quart Igloo bought in the mid 90's still holds me up too but it's just a teenager.

    work

At least you working people get days off. For us retirees it's 24/7. No vacation. No holidays. No weekends off. :teeth Retirement, the best job I've ever had. And, I've found I'm quite good at it too.

    OLDER

I have a cooler that's a bit higher than the built in step. I usually just drag it over to whichever side I want to step up on and use it. It's my fishing chair too.

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

I finally got around to putting on her name.

    tackle organization

I know the cruiser cabin is a different configuration from my angler model but you could consider adding a drawer or cabinet with a drawer somewhere if there is room. In my angler I raised the Wallas stove/heater to the top of a cabinet I built with a large drawer. Most of my tackle goes in the...

    Wallas was the culprit

Bridma, I spoke with Doug at Scan Marine when I moved my Wallas stove and added the wind deflector to the exhaust outlet. He told me to be sure to cover the entire back side of the mounting flange on the exhaust outlet with high temp RTV sealant because the L shaped pipe is just spot welded to...

    OpenCPN and Radar

OpenCPN is my only plotter. I've used a lot of different GPS's since the early '90s but never a dedicated marine plotter. I wanted to save some money by combining a portable computer with a GPS and free NOAAA charts rather than buying a dedicated marine unit. With the government providing marine...

    OpenCPN and Radar

Rather than buying a dedicated GPS unit for my boat I'm using OpenCPN on a Windows tablet computer aboard my boat. I've been quite pleased with it so far. I've been watching the radar development with OpenCPN with an eye to the future. I'm interested in any experiences anyone has had with it too.

What is under your 22 fuel tanks? (And how's it worked out.)

The current mounting (Fall of 2012) is pretty simple: The tank sits on three black rubbery strips with a piece of starboard screwed to the hull on the inboard and forward sides to keep it from sliding around. No straps or anything that I can find to keep them from bouncing up and down. The...

    Strange fuel valve.

My recent first outing with my new C-Dory revealed a problem with my fuel tank selector switch. As you can see in the attached photo I don't get fuel when the lever is positioned where the label says I should be getting fuel. When the pointer is pointing toward "Starboard" I get fuel from the...

    First outing.

I finally got the boat in the water and put it through its paces on Wednesday and Thursday. I launched in Oriental with the help of a former C-Dory owner named Rolf who was bicycling through the state boat ramp and kindly offered to give me a hand launching. His help was much appreciated as two...
