    Pure Electric C-Dory

I would love to see Elon Musk branch out into e-boats or e-outboards. My approach would be to replace the power head on an outboard with an equivalent high output low-voltage, high-torque, permanent-magnet dc motor powered by lithium ion battery's or next Gen Aluminum ion. The aluminum ion...

    Suzuki 150EFI losing power...

Could be getting a code from one of the sensors putting the motor in safe mode, limiting the RPM. Check owners manual for possible causes.

Great video on how not to set an anchor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7pRfix_sNg Starts of a bit slow but definitely picks up toward the end. Watch the guys on the brake.

    Stove

Well that's a nice looking stove from the picture I could use one as an extra burner. I managed to cook up some pretty decent meals on the boat but always have to deal with just two burners on the Wallace always thought it would be nice to have a third cook surface, plus if for some reason the...

    windlass ideas

Bob, That's not how the profish works. You toggle down for about 2 sec and the line releases, toggle up for about 2 sec and the line locks up. If you continue to toggle up the line comes in but if you toggle down it free falls again; that's the beatty of the profish. So you can easily set...

Lewmar has been good to us we must drop the pick 2 or 3 times a day often more when lazy man fishing. I converted my lewmar to a profish this year and it's worked flawlessly tell about a month ago, it didn't want to free fall tell I worked it up and down a few times. So did a little Web search...

    Wallas DT30 or 40?

Along with our Wallas cook top stove we also have the DT30 furnace in the 25. I have to tell you this furnace will roast the boat. I did have a circuit board issue but Scan Marine replaced and repaired under warranty unfortunately I had to ship it from Alaska but they actually paid for the...

    Rode Advice

No way to do it temporary. To make it work you would have to splice, not practical on short notice. To splice Get the Animated Knots by Grog app. If you want it to worr on your windless don't make it tight and thin down the strands for the last 2 or 3 tucks. I finsh be Sealing the ends...

The REAR View...Monitor/Mirror -- What have you?

Harvey, I can totally understand having a rear view camera on a Motorhome, on the back of a C dory not so much. One of these days I'm going to stop by a junkyard and pick up a rear view mirror, it would be nice to see boats approaching aft when returning to port or while leaving when the...

The REAR View...Monitor/Mirror -- What have you?

For me the money would be better spent going in the fuel tank, I don't see the need for a rear view camera. Not to say it wouldn't be cool to have, the cost to benefits not there for me. But hay, I just put about a grand into a new Avery reel fitted to a 7' Hercules seeker rod, didn't need...

    Dinghy for fishing

http://www.porta-bote.com/specifications-colors I can highly recommend porta-botes, have owned 2; a 12ft with 6hp and 14ft with 9.9. We took them camping with us for years. You can hang on side of camper or lay on top. They are indestructible and unsinkable, and have a great user group with...

    all electric 16 footer

Too bad the torquedos are not a matched set, that would bug the heck out of me. From what I can tell there doesn't seem to be any helm control other than steering, another annoyance. I would say it's an expensive experiment that didn't pan out and the owner is trying to recoup the investment.

    Permatrim

I wouldn't say the whale tale is any better then the Permitrim only that it did not significantly improve ýbow down characteristics of my 25, and I experienced about 2 to 3 mph reduction in speed at WAT. So the way I see it I'll have to improve the characteristics of the trim tabs, perhaps by...

    Permatrim

Removed my Permatrim today and reinstalled the Whales tail I had previously. I wanted more bow down so installed a permatrim like I had on our 22, didn't get the anticapated result. Less top end and decreased fuel economy so backtracked. What I plan on doing is extending my trim tabs in hopes...

Economy, twin emgines vs. single engine

Ok, read through all replies. My 07 25 has a 150 murcery Verado, my best fuel economy on step is about 2.5 to 2.75 mpg at 4200 rpm with 14 pitch prop. On flat water I get about the same fuel economy at about 5000 rpm at 27 mph. The only people who really want to sell you on twins these days...

    Washdown Switch

You didn't mention this but I assume you checked the fuse. :D And if the fuse is good make sure you have power to the switch. Then if all this looks good run a jumper to the pump and make sure it works.
