A third "lucky fish" is on the way

I totally neglected to tell my C-Brat friends about the third "lucky fish"! Tristan James Rudden-Flanagan was born on Nov. 3 at 2:30 am after one hour of labor. Midwife arrived about 3 minutes before delivery. Whew! Now it's six weeks later. Everybody is healthy, and most of us are getting...

We never find out ahead of time. We like surprises.

A third "lucky fish" is on the way

I'm not sure about changing the name on the boat, but I should probably let all our C-Brat friends know that Julia and I are expecting a child sometime in mid-October. Tim

    05/18 - 05/20 - 2012 Friday Harbor CBGT

Man, was it CRAPPY there for a while! I was doing 5 knots for a LONG time and thinking about bail-out spots. Arwen and I decided to "take a break" in Langley, but by the time we got down there the seas had moderated quite a bit. We took a break anyway. :-) Then I switched crew at Shilshole, and...

    05/18 - 05/20 - 2012 Friday Harbor CBGT

For those coming north from Puget Sound, my humble advice: With the 10-20-knot southerly forecast, get an early enough start to get to Edmonds around 10:00. That way you're catching ebb flowing north, with the wind. By the time the flood kicks in, you're in Saratoga Passage, catching the flood...

    05/18 - 05/20 - 2012 Friday Harbor CBGT

I'm on Lake Union, and since I still don't own a truck capable of towing my boat, I will go out through the locks and up along the inside of Whidbey Island. I never aim for an early start, especially if I have passengers aboard; I just let it take the time it's going to take. The locks can take...

Two Lucky Fish chiming in a bit late. We are planning to be there! We missed last year because apparently First Communion is more important than boating, or something. I'm heading up Friday, from Seattle, with one child aboard. Question: Do I need to contact Port of Friday Harbor, or do I just...

    04/06 - 04/08 - Fisherman's Terminal

Two Lucky Fish will not be in attendance, alas, despite the fact that the boat is IN THE WATER, and ON LAKE UNION about two miles from Fisherman's Terminal. She's running fine, too. I've simply got a conflict, and I had to make a choice. I'm sad. I was looking forward to having a get-together...

Keith Highlanders concert March 8-9-10 in Kirkland, WA

There are no stupid questions. Only stupid answers. Here are some stupid answers... This one is puzzling, isn't it? It's all Celtic, and America is the melting pot...the west coast even more than the east coast, in terms of remembering the fastidious details of stuff a long time ago a continent...

Keith Highlanders concert March 8-9-10 in Kirkland, WA

Complete non sequitur for my C-Brats friends, but I figure some of you might ACTUALLY be interested! I would like to invite all of my fellow C-Brats in the Seattle area who also happen to be pipe band enthusiasts (Hmmm...that may be a pretty small group, come to think of it!) to our big Kirkland...

    Immersion/survival suit rental?

That's the ticket, Bob! Thanks. And thanks for all the other suggestions, folks. I like the product test/review idea, but I need it by Saturday. I've got a good relationship with Mustang, and with the publicist for ACR, but the time is too short.

    Immersion/survival suit rental?

I need to bring an immersion (survival) suit along on a ten-day offshore passage. I don't want to buy one. What are my options? Rental? Borrow? Thanks!

Outboard "rattles" at high RPM and it didn't used

No, but after yesterday's experiment I'm now confident that I can do this with the boat in the water, so I might as well buy a set and bring them along. The plugs in it now were new one year and 50 hours ago...I didn't use the boat much last summer with my knee injury/surgery.

Outboard "rattles" at high RPM and it didn't used

Shifter cable has been adjusted. There's quite a bit of "play" in the entire system. I took apart the throttle control head, and that lever returns to two different "neutral" positions depending upon whether you're coming from forward or reverse. About 1/8" difference. By the time the cable gets...

Outboard "rattles" at high RPM and it didn't used

VERY helpful, Les. Particularly since I asked the service manager at Jacobsen's (who normally work on the boat when I can't do it myself) to watch my videos, and he came to exactly the same conclusion. This weekend, I'll try to adjust this myself. Wish me luck!

Outboard "rattles" at high RPM and it didn't used

Yeah, I'm starting to think that the high-rpm "rattling" is unrelated to my transmission issue. I really appreciate all the feedback. Here's a new video that may provide more info: http://youtu.be/QtKxdK_22UI Interesting note: When the engine is shut down in neutral, if it was engaged in...
