Electronic Gagets which make the boating experience better and safer

🤔. I’ll have to look into this. Thanks. Honestly, never thought about this option. I was leaning towards zippers as recommended by Jeff Cote @ Pacific Yacht Systems, but the cost was prohibitive.

    I need an outdoor cover

I’ve had two Angola covers. Both Sunbrella. First one lasted 10 years. Material was still fine, albeit dirty/mildew from PNW winters, but the stitching gave out. When I ordered the next one, I paid extra for Tenara thread to be used (Dr Bob’s advice). It’s still going strong. Quality is...

Electronic Gagets which make the boating experience better and safer

I installed a very basic solar system in 2019. We use a single 110w “flexible” panel that gets put on the cabin top. It’s removable and stored in the head when not used. Wires run thru the arch down the port rear corner of the cabin then along the port wall/hull joint. Controller is in the...

C-Dory 25 Cruiser - Real World Engine Upgrade Options

Our 2006 Suzuki DF150 currently has ~3,900 hours. I do either yearly/200 hour oil/filter services etc religiously, whichever comes first. Flush after every trip with muffs & Salt-Away or similar. The engine seems to run fine despite the clear coat failing on the cowling, but that’s cosmetic...

BC Gulf Islands & Vancouver Island

We are still in Lake Stevens. My wife's parents live in the Arlington/Stanwood area and they are older. Thus, we have not left yet. FYI: For those that don't know (we certainly didn't) the Ladysmith Community Marina is no longer operated by the Ladysmith Maritime Society. The city...

BC Gulf Islands & Vancouver Island

We just returned from a week in BC. I must say that the "anchorages" there are ridiculously crowded with "private moorings" and derelict boats. I'm talking well known and popular spots like Ganges, Montague, Genoa Bay, Ladysmith... We tried to anchor out and couldn't find any open decent...

    Dinghy Delima

We ended up buying a Highfield with an inflatable floor after our last dinghy started totally delaminating. It's tiny, 6'7" but weighs only 49 lbs. I can easily manhandle it onto the cabin top solo and we already had the Suzuki 2.5 four stroke.

Easier entry to V berth on CD-25

I pull myself out via the two seats (helm & copilot) much like a pushup. It's more difficult now that I had a total knee replacement, but still doable.

    Here They Come

“Signs, signs…everywhere a sign. Do this. Don’t do that…can’t read the signs?” Oh, the irony.

Upper hole was the one ?leaker?. Balsa was mush so I undercut it 1/2? and filled with thickened epoxy.
