What's Seattle really like these days?

Many of the posts in this thread lament how Seattle has changed in the last 10 to 20 years. I suggest an additional factor......folks themselves change in 10 to 20 years, and they typically see things very differently. What was once unnoticed, now becomes a problem. P.S. I've had occasion...

What's Seattle really like these days?

Well, there must be more to the story. According to Redfin: "In May 2021, Seattle home prices were up 17.0% compared to last year, selling for a median price of $818K." "In May 2021, Marysville home prices were up 21.5% compared to last year, selling for a median price of $520K." So there...

What's Seattle really like these days?

No, but it doesn't make it right either. Besides, this is not a matter of right and wrong; it's a matter of how much spin is put on the material.....especially if it is billed as a "documentary" (as KOMO did). When is comes to Sinclair, you can count on spin! You and I can agree that something...

What's Seattle really like these days?

Yes and no. Surely he wasn't given the actual words to say in his documentary, but Sinclair is well known for demanding that its stations support conservative ideology. So if you work there, and expect your documentary to be aired, it had better support Sinclair's executives conservative...

What's Seattle really like these days?

Harvey, Since you are referencing these videos again, I'd like to make a "word to the wise" type observation to anyone reading this thread. All these videos are from the Seattle TV station KOMO.....so it's just that one point of view. Other TV stations in Seattle have other points of view. Note...

What's Seattle really like these days?

It's interesting to me that the more conservative leaning C-Brats tend to see Seattle as "gone to hell" (as I suspect they view is the case with most cities); whereas the more liberal leaning C-Brats tend to be more optimistic about the quality of life in Seattle. IMO, this thread is...

I'd put my money on an octopus rather than cannibalism

    Shrimp bait

Don't know who might have been south of Lopez this weekend (I did see Hunkydory). Man, during some parts of some days......IT WAS ROUGH!

    Shrimp bait

I don't have a definitive answer, but I do have a few thoughts. First, right at the bottom, I would assume the current slows due to "friction" with the land; but I wouldn't think that effect is much of an influence after a few inches. Next, if you look at many NOAA current measuring stations...

    Shrimp bait

I've have many "shrimp theories" over the years, and although I'm shrimping better all the time, I'm 50% confident at best that any of my theories represent reality  :D. My latest theory is that the variability we sometimes see, even in approximately the same spot, is all about the...

BINGO!!! Brock, you hit the nail on the head with the above words. Kathy and I had a great time. Naturally, with boats, mood and enjoyment depend greatly on the weather.....and did Neptune bring it?.....He sure did!

Easier entry to V berth on CD-25

Likely because I don't know what I'm talking about.....  Seriously, I am no expert that's for sure, but when I hear "bulkhead", I imagine a vital structural element without which the hull would have its integrity seriously compromised. I suppose that's too strict a definition. My...

Easier entry to V berth on CD-25

Better to call it a "partition" since that "wall" is not structural at all (although it does support the shelf in a minor and inconsequential way). To each his own, of course. I love that fact that this partition is mostly removed on my CD25. Not just for the "crawl in, crawl out" issues...

    Anyone using an auto pilot?

I live in the San Juans, and naturally boat here all the time. I find my auto pilot extremely useful in these waters (and therefore in any other non-river waters). Much has already been said about this (including the whys) in many other threads on this forum. A little searching should find them.

    Wiper blades

Well, unfortunately those Trico 47-700 "Break-To-Fit" refills didn't work for me. Seems like whatever I try is a dead end. localboy, I figured since they worked for your 2007 CD25, they'd work for me (2005 CD25), but something must be different on the 2 boats. How long are your wiper blades...

Daybreak, I wonder what had you decide you needed a permit. The actual RCW (WA laws) say under RCW 77.135.230: (7)(a) The following nonresident aquatic conveyances are exempt from aquatic invasive species prevention permit requirements under this section while placed or operated on shared...
