Yep.. another Permatrim question and the Venture 23

I've searched the site first. And have read the very positive reviews etc... Since the Venture 23 is slightly more V I'm curious if any Brats have installed the Permatrim on their 23. We have spec'd a Yamaha 150. Personally I'd probably run the boat first without one just to see how she...

Your Experiences - single with kicker | single w/o kicker

Only comes in a tiller. Yes, totally agree, I'd use it almost every trip out. Gotta run anything mechanical. I was a diesel tech many moons ago, certified my Ford, CAT, Cummins, Onan and Borg Warne, among others. We were the Ford Lehman dealer in Newport Beach. What i realized is a lot of...

Venture 23 San Juan Island and beyond cruising. Possible do some boater-homing as well. I agree, I think the the use of an emergency kicker and maybe some future trolling the 9.9 would be perfect. I won't be using it on a dingy or other boat. The dingy will be a Sea Eagle:-) Thanks for the input.

Not much price difference or weight difference, 23lbs. Anyone have a 15hp kicker on their 23? or 22? Just weighing options:-) Might be able to cruise with the 15, I could see that as a positive. This was also mentioned. I guess at this rate this will lead to the twin debate...hahahaha....

    Tomcat - Aspen Cat

But as we are quoting the Venture 23 things are adding up and reality is setting in. I think at this point in life if we can manage it the Venture 23 would be great for now. There were some used C90's on the market and that's what got us looking. They were a little closer to the price range...

That's pretty amazing the small outboard moved that sailboat. Right now we are quoting the 9.9 Suzuki. Leaning that direction. Hopefully our plans will include Alaska and more remote areas one day. I think the 9.9 would serve us well.

    Tomcat - Aspen Cat

Because you'll want to sell your organs to get an Aspen:-) Wait, is that a thing? I might look into that:-) The Aspen is what my wife and I really want. But.... just not in the budget yet. If I could have any boat... under 500K... that would be it without question. In fact for us if we had an...

Hey Bob, I've looked at the Torqueedo as well. Looks like a good solution but the range give or take in hours at full speed is only an hour. We might take our Honda generator on board as well for hot water (wife) and could use that for battery top off but maybe that just plain 'ol defeats the...

The piece of mind could be all the reason one needs. I've been told the 6hp Suzuki has its own fuel tank and the controls are just at the back as in a tiller. No controls from inside the boat. I suppose that's good enough for what its designed for. The 9.9 would feed from the same tank as the...

Wanted to thank everyone. I've PM'd many of you. I don't think there is a debate for anyone that has used their kicker in an emergency situation. Many have not had that experience... yet. I like the idea of nothing more than my motor and a transducer and maybe a permatrim at the stern...

Marty at Master Marine was on the fence as well. Really like him, really talked me through all the options and did not try to sell me on anything I didn't need. I like that in a salesmen. But he did suggest a 6hp Suzuki instead of the 9.9 if we wanted a kicker. It is enough in his opinion and...

Just what i was hoping for. Spec'ing a new 23 right now and this is in discussion. I'm leaning 9.9 Suzuki kicker. Looks like it weighs in at 120 lbs. That's considerable but I'd go with a 140 Suzuki main so the weight should be fine. I've been out on many single diesel nd twins... twin diesel...

Just wondering experiences with each. Not another (twin) debate just curious what some thoughts are. Some folks Ok with just single and I totally understand, some love the reduntancy of the kicker. Wondering if anyone has used their kicker in an emergency. Pluses and minuses of each and what...

    Coeur d'Alene City in Idaho

Man, it’s a zoo this time of year. (Summer) Gets super windy there. Fuel dock and slip at the CDA resort can get crazy. Fun and beautiful but the weekends are nuts. CDA and the town are one busy place. Would not want to live there. There are several coves for dock overnighting as well, pretty...

Tomcat: Upgrade, downgrade or just different?

You it’s not easy deciding on a boat and within your budget. I haven’t been on a Tomcat, I’d like to for sure but it’s not really on my radar. I guess I feel if I could afford that maybe a little more and could find a used Aspen. I’m with you, just don’t see the Aspen happening but man, sure...

Tomcat: Upgrade, downgrade or just different?

We’re in the same boat. Been looking at C-Dory for years and finally spent some time on C-Sharp this season, awesome boat for sure but we (the wife) would like something bigger. I have followed the Aspen much longer than I have followed the C-Dory boats. I warn you not to sea trail an Aspen:-)...

    Tomcat - Aspen Cat

We probably should not have sea trialed. it was amazing. Trying to be the “admiral” back to Dory land where the normal people live. Maybe I’ll win the lotto this year.. guess I better start playing.’ It was truly an amazing ride and boat. Set up perfect. You either like the looks or you...
