The new 2nd Byte, ie: Last Byte

Mark, how about "3rd Byte", "Best Byte" "Big Byte" or "Dory Bit"? "Last Byte" kinda closes the door for future upgrades. Dusty's a good example of leaving yourself open for yet another C-Dory, in fact how about a contest in which we try to guess how many C-Dory products Dusty has owned? Not...

    04/30 - 05/02 - Lopez Island Opening Weekend

Bill & Evelyn, Les, Dusty and Kathy are by far the best source of advice I know of regarding Deception Pass, but the few times we have been through the pass have been very smooth. From what I understand, with our planning hull boats having such shallow drafts and decent size motor(s) the Pass...

Internal Combustion Engines Prohibited? Got it covered!

Wow Les! You REALLY know boats! It is indeed a CANDU-EZ and comes from your neck of the woods, Cain Lake to be exact. The gentleman who built it did a superb job, even named it well -"Big Dave", HA! It is a great deal of fun and gets more smiles per mile than any boat we've had, just towing it...

Internal Combustion Engines Prohibited? Got it covered!

Found a solution to cruising those lakes C-Dory style that do not allow internal combustion engines. Introducing Chivita's little brother! Hull speed is only 8 knots with a ten horse golf cart battery powered motor, but it gets the job done. Since this is the kid's boat, they want to know if...

    Extra Gas?

Chuck, Les posted this on another message, hopefully it will help! "If you switch to the new 20-gallon CD22 tanks you're going to get more than you think as compared to your older 18-gallon tanks. I'm assuming you have the grey rectangular Moeller tanks...they were, of course, mounted directly...

Want to build your own C-Dory?

Here's a great web site about a guy building a dory that looks remarkably like a C-Dory. Isn't there some saying about imitation being the greatest form of flattery? www.egyptian.net/~raymacke/index.html

GPS Chartplotters - How big a Screen?

Mr. Nantucket, you have brought up a great point in this conversation, nothing can replace an alert watch, as has Bill with his Power Squadron classes, an alert and well trained watch is even better. I wish more people out there cared so seriously and passionately! I'll confess, I have a 2006...

    Brand new CD25

Brady, I can only speak for myself on this, but I for one really appreciate that you have spoken up regarding your issues! If I was looking into buying a C-Dory, I would want to know the good and the bad so that I could make the best decision. However much we all love these boats, they are by...

    Learning The Hard Way

C-Sick, I pulled Chivita's 50 hour service receipt from the factory in Kent, we had them do the work in July of 2003. Total bill for us was $194.75. According to the pre-printed work order, for a 50/100/200 hour motor service they charge $100, plus parts. Combination tune-up was $130...

    New C-Dory, New Boaters

Bill and Evelyn, Saw a new boat couple at Des Moines harbor today and thought of you two, as this couple should of followed your example of seeking advice before getting in trouble. I was closing up our boat at the hoist after testing new trim tabs out in the rough stuff and I heard what...

    C-dory Factory

Chivita's experience echos your's Big Mac. I took her in for her first tune up and told Gene that the fridge was the only thing that we were unhappy with (mounting flange broke). Gene offered to replace the fridge but we declined as we decided we didn't need it, so instead he installed a shelf...

    Bow Hatch

Jon, One other thing to think about with the hatch, could be good or not. Your Grandkids will quickly discover how much fun it is to ride up in the v-berth with their heads out the hatch. If they can't be in the Captain's chair, then they'll want the hatch view. I can't blame them as I enjoy it...

  17. V-Berth is now much more comfortable in a cold environment. Side of v-berth no longer cold and hard when you roll against them in the middle of the night. Also seems to quiet that area a bit as well. Natural cotton color of canvas is almost identical to the original color of the hull.

  18. Cotton canvas (mildew resistant coating) glued to foam with 3M Super 77 spray adhesive. The more adhesive you use on this, the better the foam and cotton stick to each other and to the contours of the hull.
