    ethanol

I guess fattening cattle on corn and fueling with petroleum just didn't work. Why do we have to "live with" ethanol when gasoline is preferable? What has changed? It's called BIG CORN. But again, it's for the good of the people.

    ethanol

Just an observation: There is an online article in Boat US Magazine that states that real gasoline will be almost unattainable next year as EPA guidelines give ethanol an almost 100% share of the market. Remember, big brother says it's for your own good.
  3. Six inches deep, it does not overhang the mattress. This was wasted space before. Plans are to add other pieces towards the head of the berth. I hate bags and clutter in this area and this should eliminate the problem.

  4. It took about 15 mins for the mate to sew it. I used dowels, eye screws, SS tabs and a second nut on the through deck bolts to hang it at the foot of the v-berth.

  5. Since it doesn't include the word "marine" in the product description, it is very affordable. I ordered it on EBay.

  6. I credit my wife for introducing me to a fabric called "vinyl bag mesh". It is all plastic, mildew proof, machine washable, easily sewn, doesn't ravel, and is available in many colors. The green matches my boat perfectly.

    chart plotter how to

Thanks for the advice. If I hit "return to boat" the arrow jumps to the center of the screen. "North Up" or "COG Up" it still ends up in the middle of the screen. I can scroll it to the bottom and watch it slowly roam around the screen, but that isn't the same as home position being at the...

  9. I added this motorized windshield wiper. It bolted into the old mount hole. It came with a new arm and blade, but I modified it to use the same items as on the port side. Self parking. This wiper self destructed after a few years so I went back to manual. KISS.

  10. This answers the question of how do I store the coffee pot without it rattling around and going everywhere. Notched PVC tubing screwed to the bulkhead.

    chart plotter how to

I have an Elite 5 DSI and an Elite 5 HDI GPS/Depth finders. They work well for me and I have had few problems. However, the arrow indicating my position is in the center of the screen. It takes several key strokes and a lot of time to see what is farther out ahead. Frankly. I care little for...

    Are you a Sailor/C-brat?

Understands that "sundowners" can happen anytime after breakfast. Knows that their destination and the source of the wind are almost always the same point. Also a given, if one's course puts one on a favorable angle to the wind...the wind will die. Can depend on the fact that, the longer the...

    Choosing the right kicker

I have a long shaft 6 hp Suzuki kicker. It starts on first pull, pushes the boat fast enough to get me home, and I love it. However, as stated by others, as it is a one cylinder engine the vibration is serious.

    Rub rail leak

Just a suggestion: When I got my boat, I noticed the rub rail bulging in places along the port side. At that time I replaced the several popped rivets on that side. Now, two years later, all the rivets have broken along the other (stbd) side. I just replaced ALL of these, and in checking...

    Outboard vs. stern drive

My experience with IOs is that the motors are are reliable and easy to work on, or even to replace, but the lower section is problematic., Mine were twin 140 hp 4 cyl Chevy engines. The lower units, from the engine back, were a constant problem. Consider the complexity of 2 90 degree gear...
