    Lower unit lube

To circle up on this, I found a dealer in Everett who will do the 20 hour service for $100/engine, which is way more reasonable than what I was expecting. I'll be taking the boat up there to get the work done. I may end up doing the subsequent services myself, but it will be nice to get this...

    Battery weight

For what it's worth, my setup has two small cranking batteries on the starboard side, and the house battery on the port side. The boat seems to rest level with this layout. The battery switch panel (with the emergency parallel switch) is on the starboard side with the cranking batteries.

    Lower unit lube

Yup. And, to top it all off, I've already got the boat out getting the bottom painted, so my plan was to do it on the same trip. I'm extremely pedantic about my receipts and logs, so that will all be done (even when I have others do work I keep a detailed log about that stuff, I can't count...

    Lower unit lube

Hi Larry, No slight taken, no worries. I actually bought the boat from EQ. I'm quite sure they'd take care of me. The issue is that I have no trailer, and it's a 40 mile trip over water to get up to EQ, and then I need to get my wife to pick me up, and then the reverse on the way back. I...

    Lower unit lube

Hmm, perhaps I'm being misled on the costs. $150 for both engines for the 20 hour service seems quite reasonable. I should talk to some other dealers about what it would cost, because you all do raise good points about making sure it's all working. Can anybody share with me what they've paid...

    Lower unit lube

Hi Larry, Well, aside from knowing what failures to look for on the 20 hour service, you really seem to be recommending that I have all of my services done by a dealer mechanic, since failure to tighten the plugs properly is something that has nothing intrinsically to do with the 20 hour...

    Lower unit lube

I'm preparing to do the 20 hour maintenance on my pair of BF50 Honda outboards. Does anybody know what size nylon washers the BF50 requires on the lower unit plugs? Also, how much torque should be applied to the plug screws when re-fitting them? Also, I'm curious about what sort of store will...

    chartplotters

I don't have a Si-Tex plotter myself, but my father has one and is very happy with it. Between the two of us we've used C-Map charts on Si-Tex, Simrad and Standard Horizon systems and they work very well. I don't really have any information comparing them to the Navionics charts but as I...

    Twin 50's Filter/Separator

Hi Vern, I just bought a 22 with twin Honda 50s from EQ and they outfit it with a single fuel/water separator. I can grab the model number next time I'm at the boat if you're interested. Also, both motors draw from a single tank, which I actually think is a good thing because then you can...

    Fresh Water Rinse

So this may be obvious to some, but when running with earmuffs or the garden hose attachment on the motor, is the motor tilted down in the water, or up?

    Questions moving to covered moorage

Seems like this thread caused all the C-Dory owners in Edmonds to speak up, so I'll chime in as well. I'm over on B dock now and am just getting things situated. With the south-easterlies that have been blowing over the past week I've been figuring out how to tie the boat up and not have too...

    paper charts vs: navionic chips

I'm a purist. While I love my plotter, I would never set out on unfamiliar (or really any) waters without proper paper charts. I've always been partial to chart books, as they are much easier to manage than proper NOAA charts (especially with the limited space in a C-dory). So, while I would...

    Bilge pump sucking air?

So does your pump just spin forever with no air or does it eventually grab on? My primary concerns are the pump burning out and the battery getting drained.

    Bilge pump sucking air?

Hi all, I just picked up my C-Dory, and one thing I noticed when washing down the boat was that the pump was sucking air for a long time before it got ahold and started pumping. I noticed there was a good amount of crud in the bilge, so I cleaned it out and tried again, and the same thing...

    EQ Marine and C-Dory

Odd I see nothing on the EQ website about this, perhaps it was taken down?

    CD-22 Length With Motors up

Hi all, I'll soon be taking delivery of my new 22, and am trying to figure out what size slip I'll need. Does anybody know how long a CD-22 is with a 50HP Honda tilted up? (presumably most outboards will be more or less the same, but I need to know how long the whole thing will be). Thanks! Alec
