    Spending extended time aboard...

Nice thread Jim. One thing we've done to combat the moisture problem is put in a solar powered vent fan. I cut a hole in the hatch over the v-berth since that is the area with the most moisture, especially when we're sleeping on the boat. Since this is "sunny" California there is a...

San Francisco South Bay Cruising-Alviso Launch Ramp

I've been negligent about reading the forums but I just noticed this. My brother and I took Tranquilo down last spring. The channel was being dredged and I don't think access in a C-Dory should be an issue. I liked the area - lots of history. It was supposed to be the big port for San Jose...

    Perfect Towing Vehicle

I'm happy with our 2008 Tundra pulling our CD-25. The mileage does go down to about 10 mpg but I do like Toyotas. They had talked about putting diesel engines in the Toyotas here in the U.S. but I think the crappy economy sank that.

    Sacramento boat show

Maybe something has changed, but the last time I talked to the Outboard Motor Shop people they definitely were not a C-Dory dealer. However they may still have some boats left to sell. They've been servicing our boat and I've been happy with them.

Thanks Harvey. I don't usually forward links to friends but I did this one. It was uplifting. Jeff

Just Missed a Real Trailering Disaster

Sounds like the moral is to get in touch with your "inner anal retentiveness" when you're towing a trailer. I usually check the hubs but I'll add the ball to my list. Thanks! Jeff

beat this! money lost on boats!

Hi Pat, I think you started an interesting post. But kind of like a coffee shop conversation (I've had a lot of practice) the topic drifted. It's still good fun. My favorite Mae West line: "I started out like Snow White but I drifted". Jeff

beat this! money lost on boats!

My Dad had sailboats from the time I was young until he passed away. Started out with a 21 foot wooden hull sloop and ended up with a 31 foot sloop with an inboard diesel. He always claimed that he "bought dear and sold cheap". If that was translated into Latin it could probably be on our...

    ETHANOL

I agree with Roger. I don't think that we should go bonkers over this. Remember what Winston Churchill said (more or less) "you can count on America to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else". Maybe it is time for that new diesel outboard, that isn't too heavy. Jeff

    Flight of the Blue Eagle

Hi David, What a great trip! Cruising the bay is going to seem awfully tame after this. Maybe we can meet for that BBQ on Angel Island so we can hear the whole story. Have you been happy with your twin 90's (I think)? Jeff

    Engine overheat question

Thanks for the "heat soak" info Larry. That makes sense. How about the temperature going up and down? Anybody have any sense of how these outboards normally run? I would think that at a constant speed the temperature shouldn't vary 30+ degrees. Maybe the "heat soak" damaged a sensor. Jeff

    Engine overheat question

We were out yesterday going across San Pablo Bay. I turned off the 150 hp Mercury Verado and ran the kicker for about 15 minutes. When I restarted the main engine and gave it the gun to get up on plane the "Smart" sensor shut me down to idle and said that the engine was overheated. After...

    Uh Oh III

Charlie, Could you give us a little bit more advanced notice before you sell off. It's hard for me to shuffle money around that fast.

    Uh Oh III

I think that Harry Dent was famous for predicting a 30,000 Dow. Soo he's not always right. We talked about him a lot in a financial planning class I took. I think his main point about the changing demographics in the U.S. are important. Like Japan in the 80's we have an aging population...

    Broughtons

I'm thinking about hauling Tranquilo up to Campbell River next year. As much as I enjoyed the Straits of Georgia this year, skipping the experience doesn't sound bad. Does anyone know the cost of taking a C25 across on the ferry from Vancouver? Is it much of a hassle? The Broughtons sound...

    Honda 20 won't piddle

Thanks Guys! I think I'll try the string trimmer suggestion and maybe some compressed air before I send it to the urologist  Jeff

    Honda 20 won't piddle

My Honda 20 hp kicker doesn't piddle out the top anymore. Does that mean the water pump is broke or could it just be a small kidney stone? The boat is in the water and I wasn't planning on pulling it out for a couple of months. I can flush it out from the top and water seems to flow freely...

    Bellingham in July?

Hi Ruth and Joe, Congratulations on the new RRRR-Matey. Looking good. I have been in touch with Squalicom (sp?) which I think is the same as Port of Bellingham but I'll double check that. I was wondering if Lee Kincaid ever got another boat? Look forward to seeing you when we're up there. Jeff

    Bellingham in July?

Thanks Pat. Our intention was to stay on the boat. I'm not sure how that would work with dry storage. Jeff
