    removing hot water heater

Would any of you be up for listing the steps for removing my hot water heater from my C-Dory 25? My normal MO is to just barge ahead, but I am concerned I will electrocute myself, or end up with water running in places it shouldn't be... Here's hoping... Amanda

    CDory rubbing on wheel covers

I was just looking at guide-ons at Overtons. (Goal-post type). They had more than one choice. Which ones did you purchase? Did you get them somewhere other than Overtons? Amanda

    CDory rubbing on wheel covers

Great ideas and info folks! I will get the goal-post type guide-ons and I will see about crossing the straps at the back. I will wait to see how that works before taking the radical step of adding height to the bunks. Mucho thanks. It helps just to know it's not just me! Amanda

    CDory rubbing on wheel covers

Hello good folks...Merry Christmas I am having a problem with my EZLoader trailer. When I load up the C-Dory 25 onto the trailer, it rides slightly to the left, up tight against the wheel-well covers and the trailer side board. The boat is not touching the wheel-well covers or the side board on...

Did I drain the water system?

I am a bit intimidated by the water heater. I wanted to drain the water system and so I just turned on the hot and cold water faucets at the sink and operated the toilet until no more water came out. Then I hooked up a sewer hose I have to the septic and flushed all the sewage at an RV...

    removing the plug...

Super ideas. And really so easy. In the meantime, my brother installed an outlet near my boat yesterday afternoon, so now I can take care of this a little easier. I will use my wet-dry vac to suck out any remaining water, (hopefully it has thawed) and then I will go with the anti-freeze idea...

    removing the plug...

I am so glad to hear you have not had damage even with a frozen bilge. I have asked my brother to put in an electric plug for me where my boat is stored. The electricity is already there as it is used to run the well pump. I figure maybe I can use a heating pad or something similar in the...

    removing the plug...

I have a hatch on either side of the rear cockpit which contains the batteries and water tank, plus there is circular access in between each hatch that contains the bilge pump. The bilge pump sits in a little hole and right in front of that hole is another hole where water is coming from. The...

    removing the plug...

Steve I hope you are right and the amount of water that may get in is no big deal. I found some water frozen this morning around my automatic bilge pump in the hatch at the rear of the cockpit. I was not happy. I don't know what damage it may cause. I put a sponge on it in hopes it will thaw...

    removing the plug...

This sounds good to me. According to the information on the jack from Overton's, the jack plugs right into the same place your trailer lights use with the same type of plug. If it doesn't, I will send it back and use my back (probably good for me anyway...) Thanks for the help. Amanda

    removing the plug...

Casey and Chuck: You are indicating that I don't need to purchase a jack rated at 1500 pounds. The other jack listed at Overton's is for 1000 pounds. Does that seem do-able to you guys? Thanks for the info. Amanda

    removing the plug...

I cover the cockpit with a good tarp I have and I also open the hatches. The problem here in the desert is that wasps will move in to open hatches, so I open them and then cover them with this woven outdoor shade material so none can find their way in. I also have to cover the bilge plug...

    removing the plug...

I had the plug in my hand this afternoon and as I got back in the truck I was thinking,"now what do I do with this so I don't forget to put it back in...?". Thanks for the suggestions. I will NOT forget to put it in!!!!! Amanda

retrieve without getting in the water?

I have been imagining retrieving the boat by hooking the winch strap on the bow eye from the dock as was described by one of you. I think I want to try that. I will be taking Pohaku to Elephant Butte Lake in New Mexico on December 18 so I will get to try it then. (Pohaku is the middle name of...

    removing the plug...

Thanks for the information. I will pull the plug when I pull the boat out of the water from now on. (I have only failed to put a plug back in once. Fortunately, it was with my little Jon boat and I was able to get it up onto the ramp before it was completely full of water. Although I sure got...

    removing the plug...

When I bought my C-Dory 25 the mechanic showed me the plug at the back. He said it was in very tight and I should just leave it alone. I check to make sure it is there and tight before launching each time, but lately I got to wondering why it was there if I'm supposed to just "leave it...

retrieve without getting in the water?

Thank you all for the great information. I will be visiting Big 5 Sports soon to get my waders. That seemed the easiest solution. I think I will also get a set of guide-on posts and I will look into a ramp or walkway of some sort on my trailer tongue (although it will probably have to have hand...

retrieve without getting in the water?

I cannot figure out how to put my 25'C-Dory onto the trailer without ending up wading. When the temperature is reasonable, no big deal, but with winter weather I am trying to figure a way to hook it to the trailer without doing any wading. Any body have a way that keeps everybody dry? Amanda

Boarding Planks, Ladders, and Other Ideas

How did you attach that telescoping ladder to the bow? I hate to drill holes in the boat...but I guess I must...did the attachment nuts and bolts come with the ladder? Are the attachments thru-hull? At this point I am looking strongly at my house ladder... Amanda

Too much boat for my skills

You people are just great! Your concern, good humor and great suggestions have caused me to alter, somewhat, my intentions. The boat "Pohaku" is still for sale with a very negotiable price tag...however, rather than leaving it parked so as not to put more wear and tear on it, I will continue to...
