Does anyone carry a sea anchor aboard?

Thanks for the replies. I don't go very far offshore, I have a kicker (which I test before leaving the dock) and I pick my days, so as Bob suggests, it might be overkill for me. Hmmmm...I'll have to cogitate on this... space is limited, for sure! If I do get one, I think it would be wise to...

Changing wipers from manual to wiper motors?

Don't know how I missed that one but that's a great write-up by Boris... thank you!

Changing wipers from manual to wiper motors?

Anyone have any tips on a good unit, and on the install process? I have a 2005 CD22 with manual wipers, and that's getting old. I've read some posts and apparently the AFI motors aren't very good... what brand/models should I look at? Since I'll want to use the existing holes that the manuals...

Does anyone carry a sea anchor aboard?

I've been reading up on sea anchors, and was thinking it might be a good thing to have on board, just in case. If both engines are dead and seas are rising, we can't really heave-to like a sailboat, so I can see the benefit of the sea anchor. And it may allow me to focus on getting the engine...

Is this a shift rod seal on Honda 90... easy replacement?

Sorry for long delay, just saw this. Yep, I did remove that bolt and washer too. Not sure why it's stuck on there, doesn't make much sense, but I didn't want to chance breaking it. Been busy boating and whatnot so I'll get a new plastic cover this Fall and then I can really apply some...

Problem with target bunks on new trailer

Thanks, Tom, that's good info. I never had any trouble launching or loading on my old Load Rite without target bunks. Think I'm going to set it just flush with the boat to begin with and drop them down later if I need to. Spoke with Load Rite yesterday, they make bracket sizes all the way up...

Problem with target bunks on new trailer

Does anyone know the correct placement of target bunks for a CD22? My old Load Rite trailer didn't have target bunks. But I just got a new Load Rite Elite aluminum trailer, and the target bunk brackets on the rear end of the bracket is too low, by about 5", so there's a space. Initially...

Is this a shift rod seal on Honda 90... easy replacement?

In case it helps someone, I finally got the seals delivered, installed them on the drive shaft on the shift rod... very easy job. Couldn't get the shift rod holder off, the black plastic circular part you pry off, in the pic. There's an O Ring under there I wanted to replace while I was at it...

    Finally, I'm buying a cdory

FWIW I have a 2005 CD22 with a 2005 Honda 90, and I added a 6HP Tohatsu kicker in '16. Trolling is great with the kicker, and if you lock the kicker straight you can also steer from the helm, using the main engine (turned off) simply as a rudder. Works surprisingly well. Good luck with your...

Is this a shift rod seal on Honda 90... easy replacement?

Yeah... surprisingly I haven't really needed the shop manual yet... until now. I've been working on engines since I was 10 so I just start taking things apart! The internet also has a ton of great info, of course. But this latest endeavor has me thinking it's time!

Is this a shift rod seal on Honda 90... easy replacement?

Thanks Almas, really appreciate the help! OK, that must be the O ring that came with the impeller/pump kit and I installed that. It fit around the outer edge of the pump, in a groove for the o ring. I'm sure it will all make sense when I pull it apart to do the other seals. Thanks! One of...

Is this a shift rod seal on Honda 90... easy replacement?

OK, I feel dumb. Just checked the video I shot when disassembling... on the bottom of the housing (part 6, which is not included in the water pump kit) I see a red ring which I think is the water seal. Not sure about the O ring, there's a black rubber-looking ring, but if that's the...

Is this a shift rod seal on Honda 90... easy replacement?

Thanks. Yes, I've been looking at the diagrams on boats.net. But I guess what has me still scratching my head are those 2 seals and o ring for the drive shaft, as shown here, parts 32 and 36: The photo in my post above, was taken right after I lifted the old water pump out. I didn't see 2...

Is this a shift rod seal on Honda 90... easy replacement?

BTW, any trick to pulling the 2 seals under the water pump housing? As usual, I can't seem to find any info on that specific process for this engine. It looks like there's a nut above the seals, I think it's the part in the pic with the printing etched into it. I'm guessing it's finger tight...

Is this a shift rod seal on Honda 90... easy replacement?

Thank you both, that's exactly what I was looking for. And yeah, I was going to order the 2 seals anyway, and that's a good idea to get the o ring for the housing and seals for under the water pump... and the prop. Yes, Green Grease is amazing! Again, many thanks... the C-Brats always come...

Is this a shift rod seal on Honda 90... easy replacement?

Ahhh.... the "Disable code for this topic" is always ON by default. here are the pics... here's a wide shot, the shift rod is toward the right, the small rod: Closeup of the cracked seal:

Is this a shift rod seal on Honda 90... easy replacement?

I was changing the impeller/water pump today (first time, pretty easy), and noticed the shift rod seal is really gone. ( Very surprised I haven't got water intrusion into the gear case yet!) There are 2 photos of it in my Album (click Major Tom on the left) 1. There are 2 potential parts I...

Adding bilge discharge... thru hull location and hose run?

Nothing all that fancy about this project but thought I'd post in case someone is looking at the same thing. I ended up using the THF (through hull fitting) for the port lazarette... I don't use the live well and I hate poking holes in the boat if I can avoid it. I also ended up...

Any tips for boating on Narragansett Bay?

I'm really late in posting this but thought I'd share what I learned in case it helsp someone down the road. We went for a week and it was outstanding. Very easy boating... and I've spent most of my boating life on fresh water. I found Sail Newport, which has a very large parking lot about...

Anyone know the length of CD25 from Boweye to transom?

You would be far closer to reality with a 10,000# "gross rating" on a trailer for a loaded 25  & to answer the question 23' + or- bow eye to transom Thanks tsturm!
