09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

We have talked about trying Lake Powell on several occasions and it would be great to be with folks that already know the lake. My concern is that our Ranger R21-EC and her little 30 hp diesel might not be able to keep up with the group. Just looking for a little insight from those with more...

    Canvas Cover for Ranger 21

Congratulations on your new purchase! I know you'll enjoy yours as well as we are enjoying ours. The "wow" factor when you're on the water is unbelievable! Wait until you see how economical she is to operate! I'm wondering if your source would have a solution for my R21-EC with a mast? One...

    big water and the R-25

I know the question regarded the R25, but I've been very pleased with the way my 21 handles on rough waters. Lake Texoma is an enormous lake and they routinely get four to six foot waves going. It is not comfortable taking rolls, so we've learned to quarter her into the chop and she does take...

Pre -purchase questions for 21-EC ?

Sorry about the frustration regarding lack of response, but I have to admit I don't have a clue about how fast my boat will go. There is no speedometer and the GPS registers the same speed regardless of RPM's. I have to agree that the real sweet spot for my boat is that same 2400 RPM as...

    Two electronics questions

I've found Tigergps.com to have the most competitive pricing for the SD chips. My unit is the Magellan and it has a specific marine naviagation mode. Works great inland, not sure I'd trust it coastal.

Engine sizes for Ranger 21 Tug

It may be interesting to note that, although my 2007 has a 30HP, the Coast Guard tag shows 27 HP.

    Buying a used Ranger 21

I have to chime in and say that, as long as you don't put the R21-EC up on a semi plane (full out) it just doesn't use any fuel. My sweet spot is 2600 rpm and I run the thing weekend after weekend without ever adding fuel. I think the 1/2 gallon per hour is overstated... more like 1/4 gallon...

Enough room to sleep 2?? Ranger 21 ec

As much as I love my R21-EC, sleeping arrangements are definitely a two person operation only. We find room for our 4 pound chihuahua, but that's about the limit, I'm afraid!

    Buying a used Ranger 21

From what I can tell, The Ranger 21 has been a great, solid performer. I think I'm correct in stating that the '01 models had the old hull design which was strictly displacement while the newer models are semi-displacement offering increased top speed. Also, the cabin is 18" shorter than the...

    Uh Oh!

In the Dallas area, the only area that seems to be hurting is real estate. $100 a barrel oil has provided a great offset to the real estate problems... at least in the short run. The economy doesn't feel particularly sluggish from where I'm sitting. I totally concur with the general sentiment...

The Cruising Adventures of Wild Blue and crew...

You and Joan are such an inspiration for those of us hoping to pursue a similar path and your generosity in sharing lets me know that you are truly enjoying yourselves. Ruth and I are planning a week long trip down to Port Aransas based on your recommendation with our little R21 EC, Slow 'n...

The Cruising Adventures of Wild Blue and crew...

Your journal regarding your trip to Port Aransas made up our minds to go there to play for a week in early January! We so envy you guys the time to go and explore as you do. I need about three more years before I can start taking extended trips. We never get tired of reading the narrative of...

    Bottom paint on new boat

I found growth on the hull of my new R21 EC almost immediately down here in Texas. I couldn't leave the boat in the water even a couple of weeks without having really nasty accumulations. I had a local marina apply the paint and they said to expect five years on the job. They also said that...

Hope to be owners this weekend...

I keep looking at all the fun events planned for other parts of this great country of ours and am seriously jealous. October is my busiest time at work or I would try to join Wefings in Apalachicola. Having never even attended an event, it would be difficult for me to envision what is...

    IN WUV WITH R21

Just picked my 21 up recently so don't have a lot of experience with her as yet, but there is a bilge for the cockpit that seems to do a great job. The fuel economy issue should not be overlooked... runs and runs and runs on 18 gallons of fuel (like 240 miles at cruising speed!) I thought I...

    Air conditioning for R21-EC?

As I've investigated this, there are units that run off DC power now. Marvair and Dometic both make one. I think the Fluid Motion folks prefer the Marvair because the motor runs directly from DC. I appreciate the comments regarding day use and I've found Slow 'n Easy to be fairly comfortable...

2007 Alaska northern inland passage wilderness cruise

It was such a treat to read of your magnficent adventures in Alaska. It makes me happy I decided to purchase our little tug. Don't know if we would ever be as adventuresome as you, but still looking forward to wonderful adventures here in the Southland. Can't thank you enough! Texas Steve

    Air conditioning for R21-EC?

I guess this is what the forum is for... does anybody have any advice or experience with air conditioning an R21-EC? I would especially like to hear from any members from the southern tier of states. We're currently running a battery operated fan in the pilothouse, but I'm not sure that would...
