Well, I finally made the plunge and bought a boat. I picked up a 2001 Atlas Acadia 25 so my wannabe brat days are over. Thanks for answering all my questions in the past and happy safe boating to all of you. Dave.
I don't currently own a C-Dory or any boat for that matter. I had my heart set on a 22 cruiser for over a year until I actually got on one at a boat show. Much to my dismay I found the 22' way too tight for me inside. The cabin height was good, but not much room at table or steering station...
I think the article was talking about high prices in Ucluelet and Tofino. I see the Wickaninnish Inn is listing room prices as high as $1500/night in peak seasons.
Might be apples and oranges, but I put my motorcycle up for 6 months a year with a full tank and a conditioner. It's EFI and winters over very well every year.
I hope Joe is okalso, but I didn't find the "dibs on the boat" offensive. A little lite humor is never a bad thing and I'm not sure worrying about the worst possible outcome without any facts is all that healthy.
I'm shooting a Nikon D70s with a sigma 10-20, nikon 24-85 and a nikon 80-400. I quite enjoy the camera, but find it's lots to carry. I'm looking at a smaller digital for backup and easier carring on quick trips.
Great job on the weight loss. I'm down 47 lbs myself since March and i'm still a lot heavier than you, so a long way to go. Keep it up and enjoy the boating.
From a shark source:
Any shark to be used as food should be cleaned immediately. If the blood is not drained from the system right away, the urea deteriorates into ammonia and results in the pungent odor and dry taste characteristic of poorly handled shark meat.
So, don't just throw your shark...
I see online where the US government plans to shut down GPS services in a terrorist attack or other military crisis. Electronic backup may not be too reliable in those circumstances.
I have to agree that for peace of mind, a fella needs paper charts. I ordered some today for the local waters our retirement home is on. Now all I need is the boat :) Come on retirement!!!
If your cruising Johnstone Strait, Vancouver Island there is a coffee roaster in Sayward/Kelsey Bay. His blends are outstanding and he roasts for quite a few of the Island resorts and lodges. http://www.mistyridgecoffeebeans.com/home_delivery.php
A few questions about paper charts even though electronic is so good these days. Do you carry paper charts onboard always? Do you makes notes or marks on them as changes are posted as NOTMARs or add printed notices?
