    09/03 - 09/18 - Desolation Sound 2005

Hi all, Just brief note, seeing all the posts has my mind reeling my DS trip last September. I anchored at the end of VonDonop Inlet on 12 Sep 04. My log indicates "terrific bottom holding - good anchoring". Unfortunately it started raining that night and rained all the next day. One log note...

    Trailer guide-on set-up?

Hi Nick I have just re-trailered, rollers to an EZloader bunk style. I took the cargo guides and brackets from the old trailer and installed on the new. It was a major struggle getting it right. The mfg stated beam on a 22 is 7'9", I guess that is from the outside of the rub rails. Of...

    San Juan's cruising guidebook

Planning to cruise San Juans for the month of June. I have seen a few good cruising books (more specific than Waggoners). Any suggestions on best book for this area. Cheers - Dave

    09/03 - 09/18 - Desolation Sound 2005

Just a few observations I have made on my four crossings/journeys in the Strait in Sailor-D. First I am not exactly an old salt (literally or figuratively). Many of you have a lot more experience than I. The Strait of Georgia is a very large body of water (comparitively a C-Dory is a very...

    Location of fuel/water separators

In the process of relocating filter to splashwell near boot. Mine was in batt compatment and suffering effects of acid and very hard to change or check. My question - I want to put a quick connect on the inlet side of the filter head in the event I ever have use of an auxilliary fuel tank...

    09/03 - 09/18 - Desolation Sound 2005

Sailor-D - voyage to Desolaton Sound – 2004, Part 2 5 Sep – Weather is perfect, warm, slight northwest breeze and sunny. One thing we do notice is that the daylight hours are getting shorter – evenings are starting to get dark by 1730 or so. We checked our charts and the idea of anchoring...

    09/03 - 09/18 - Desolation Sound 2005

Tim Maybe before I go any further I must point out an errata on tank capacity and a mea culpa is in order. I checked my gas tank, the sticker is somewhat degraded, did a photo enlargement and the capacity is indicated at 58US gallons (219 litres). This gives a fuel load of 348lbs (@ 6 lb per...

    09/03 - 09/18 - Desolation Sound 2005

It's a deal. What is the best way to post a chronicle of our trip? It is possible to put a .doc file into the photo album? I don't really want to hog a whole chunk of the forum - or is that OK? Pls let me know and I will get out my log and hit the keyboard.

    09/03 - 09/18 - Desolation Sound 2005

Hi folks - We did Desolation first three weeks of Sep 04. The weather was not that great. Everyone we met said that it was a wetter more miserable September than past years - we have to agree. We launched from Ladysmith - 5 miles from where I live. I will field questions if anyone is...

    New Digital Camera

Thanx for the tips Stevej. I was getting a bit of overexposure with light subjects on auto (corrected with manual settings). I always used polarizing filters on my old Pentax Spotmatic - I will give the lens barrel a try on mine. Cheers - Dave

    New Digital Camera

I bought a Canon PowerShot S1 IS a few months ago, very good results so far. I like the image stablilizing system in this camera - a must for most boat pictures.

Hi Brock/Carolyn - nice to hear from you too. Pic was of "Cutie" 16 ft C-Dory angler with an Idaho registration. Didn't get a chance to jaw with the owner/op though. I have the pic but don't know how to attach to a reply in here. Cheers - Dave
