It is that time of year (I think - I am getting old) TIP JAR

Bob, How does one go about doing that? In a cursory look around, I don't see quite where one would make a donation to the site.

    COVID-19 need to laugh?

I just figured the no mask wearing faction was those that believe in the unalienable rights of "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of being able to infect anyone they damn well please, F-them Libtards!"

    Crabby Lou and Lola, too!

Keep taking her, she'll get used to it. She's a cutie. We took our two little ones to Clark Island today and they had an absolute blast. Lots of clean beach to explore and very few people, other dogs, etc. We could tell they were smiling from ear to ear the whole time! Clark Island wouldn't...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Played with it today and it actually works pretty well. Called up a sailboat with a name I recognized and made a direct DSC call. Worked like a charm, except it wasn't the same "New Sensations". I can definitely see a problem acknowledging the call as it is not very intuitive. Need to press the...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Installed 3 new rocker switches at the helm for the AIS transponder, an aft bilge pump, and for future expansion. I also installed a new Simrad RS35 VHF radio that connects to the NMEA2000 network that "should" allow me to make DCS direct calls directly to vessels activated from the...

    1st motor service...

Other than changing the engine and gear case oil, and oil filter (which are easy to do) and a cursory inspection, what else are they going to do? Perhaps hook it up to a computer for a diagnostic test? Unless it is something really specialized that needs to be done, I like to do the basic...

Boat Handling / twin or single outboard

I'm a pilot, and I totally agree - it's fact! However, the big difference between boats and planes it that boats don't fall out of the sky! To maintain even level flight a plane needs to be at around 75% of its power output (combined even with twins), whereas a boat can limp along at very...

Boat Handling / twin or single outboard

Don't thank me, thank Gary & Colleen of DayBreak, of which that is the combination they have on their 23 and it sounds like a perfect set up and some great figures. They don't have trim tabs and don't even need them. You should PM them for details, but I know they are out cruising so may be...

How to manage payment for large purchase?

When I sold my airplane, and years later when purchasing my C-Dory, just went to a branch of my bank together with the seller/buyer and had them make up a a bank check. This way the seller knows its a good check. This works well with regular commercial banks that have many branches.

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Watched a couple of YouTube videos on whipping rope ends. I call it going to "YouTube University". Whipped my dock lines and an anchor snubber along with making a nice splice. I remember my grandfather, a Danish merchant marine, teaching me how to splice as young boy, but it was nice to relearn...

Max HP Rating on 22’ Cruiser

Last year prior to re-powering, I thought long and hard about going with a large/faster outboard. But it seems to me in the waters I run that going any faster than about 20 knots it is just too hard and tiring to "stay ahead" of the boat diligently looking out for logs. Hitting a big...

    Idiots at Catalina Island

Certainly you can't be serious. The US is much more diverse in terms of social, economic, cultural, and education levels than the relatively homogeneous Switzerland. You'd want 16 year old inner city poor kids to be required to carry at all times? Many can't even pass high school let alone be...

    Idiots at Catalina Island

But how to insure American citizens maintain the ability to defend against the vagaries of a tyrannical NRA and the wacko gun nuts that they enable? Like perhaps this idiot in this boat with his modified full-auto, or the endless stream of paramilitary nut jobs that go on murderous rampages...

Anything good coming out of Covid?

I've heard some millennials refer to it as the "geriatric-errator" and "boomer-errator", so I guess to some that is a good thing...

    Daily Laugh 2

There's this guy, and he's visiting another city for the first time. So he goes to the zoo. He's walking all through the zoo and the only animal he sees is a dog. It turns out it's a Shih Tzu.

    Twin 25hp Yamahas on a C Dory 16 cruiser

Additional steering linkages, throttle and battery cables, fuel lines, and instruments will all contribute some weight, complexity, and most notably expense. Not to mention twice the maintenance. But is sure does sound neat!

2020 FRIDAY Harbor CBGT, move to Sept 2020

Harvey, Just dropped in, and yeah, yeah, oh-yeah if the governor lifts the order that permits us to have the event instead of no with big black letters on a dead end sign, I will get my foot on the gas and head up to I'll be there and if we have the event I'll feel 8 miles high. But will still...

2020 FRIDAY Harbor CBGT, move to Sept 2020

Harvey, Thank you for all you are doing and have done for this event. I know it has been very difficult and time consuming. You're a top-notch person! 1. I WAS planning on attending the scheduled May FH CBGT event and was really looking forward to it prior to the pandemic. 2. Joanie and my...
