    Cumberland River

Jim, I live in Louisville, Ky. and have a lake house @ Cumberland Lake. I have fished below Wolf Creek Dam on the river down to Celina, TN. The guides use jet drives on their outboards because of the debris and depth issues. I'm not sure that the river is navigable from Burkesville, Ky to...

    Motor position while towing

Terry, I have a 2008 Grady White Tournament 225 with a Yamaha F-250 TXR on a Gill bracket. I tow it 300 miles round trip to Lake Cumberland constantly. I have always used one M-Y wedge on the port side and have never had any problems. I would highly recommend the M-Y. Wedge.

    Cabin size

Mitch I'm in the same quandary that you are regarding getting to see a Tom Cat. I am not able to go to the Anacortes show and would really appreciate you sharing any information you get from out there esp. pictures. Marc @ Wefing's has a new 25 Cruiser in stock according to his web page...

    Attention TomCat owners!

Mitch, Let's stay in touch and see if we can't figure out some way to see one. I too have been working with Marc and he is really a great guy. I know we'll get something worked out.

    Attention TomCat owners!

Charlie, Thank you for your offer. I may take you up on that and I'll let you know in June. I'm a little surprised you won't be in Maine during the summer. Again thanks for the offer. Chris

    Attention TomCat owners!

Thanks Bob, I will go to the map and check it out. I was hoping also that maybe someone who isn't on the map would read this as well.

    Attention TomCat owners!

Tom Cat owners I need your help. I live in Louisville, Ky. and am very interested in a Tom Cat 255. The problem is no one has one in stock and the new owners, Northwest Marine Industries, have no plans to have one at any boat shows in the near future. Is there anyone close to me who would be...

Tomcat 255 vs Skagit Orca 27XLC

Bob, Looks like a nice boat. Also looks like all center consoles. I wonder if they have any plans to build a pilot house/cabin boat? I also see they show a lot of E-Tecs on the boats featured on their web site.

    Sagit Orca

Joe, You're right. I've been researching these boats for quite some time. As far as an owners' group I am not aware of one. I just figured they would use C-Brats since they're all built by the same folks

    Sagit Orca

Also, the boat has been marketed as a premier fishing boat by the former manufacturer, and has fish boxes and other accommodations, including a standard second steering station in the cockpit (+++!!!). Joe, A lot of the boats out there do have the second steering station in the cockpit but it is...

    Sagit Orca

Mr. Snow, As someone who has researched and investigated Skagit Orca boats for quite sometime I can only tell you I have always been impressed by them. As someone living in the eastern US you've noticed they are not as prevalent as a lot of other brands. Since you're in Western NC are you going...

    Sagit Orca

Sea Wolf, One exception to your post is that all Skagit Orcas were offered with single or twin outboard engine options as well. There are some out there that have outboards on Armstrong brackets and I, like you would prefer not to have an I/O for all the reasons you stated. As to the floor plan...

Tomcat 255 vs Skagit Orca 27XLC

George, I have been intrigued by the Aspen C90 since I first read about it. What were your impressions of the Proa hull design and the single inboard diesel? Larry Graf seems to know a thing or two about catamarans but unfortunately all the boats I seem to be interested in are in the Pacific NW...

Tomcat 255 vs Skagit Orca 27XLC

Bob, I appreciate those thoughts. It is my understanding that the Triton Marine Group is the same bunch that used to build Sea Sport boats and I believe it is run by the Lindhout family. I do not know if Triton has actually built a Skagit Orca since they took over from Fluid Marine. I don't see...

Tomcat 255 vs Skagit Orca 27XLC

Sea Wolf, Thank you so much for your comments and let me answer the questions you raise. My current Grady is a Tournament 225 dual console w/ a 250HP Yamaha TXR mounted on a Gill bracket. I use it primarily @ Lake Cumberland in south central Ky and on the Ohio River here in Louisville. I hope...

Tomcat 255 vs Skagit Orca 27XLC

Capt. Matt, Thanks for your honest, real world input. Are the Tomcats still made with the low tunnel or have they corrected it? If they haven't they must not perceive it to be a problem. Also you are right about the Aspen, it is a displacement hull never meant to plane, but I thought the World...

Tomcat 255 vs Skagit Orca 27XLC

George, Thanks for your input. I was hoping you would see this as I have followed your downsizing with great interest in Soundings and read about your recent cruise on Lake Champlain. I am concerned about the tunnel being below the waterline when the boat is not on plane. Do you know if that is...
