Thanks for all the tips, I bought some contact cleaner and will give it a try. I've thought about dielectric grease but my truck sees lots of dusty roads and the cover on the trailer hookup doesn't keep all the grime out. I'm concerned the grease will just turn to mud, anybody have that problem?

I'm still fairly new at boating in salt water and have a question: what is the best protocol for preventing trailer connector contacts from corroding? I'm having issues with intermittent connections to my trailer that appear to be caused by corrosion.

Last year I used Pettit Prop Coat Barnacle Barrier and it worked well although has already worn through in some areas of the trim tabs so I will add another coat this year. Which Collinite wax did you use on the transducer? Does it prevent barnacles and green growth?

That can work but the challenge is finding a toggle switch that is rated for the 34 amps peak draw of the auto-pilot

You could use a panel mount breaker like a Blue Sea System 285 series rated at 40 amps. They include a manual switch to open them and a reset lever. This could replace the 40 amp fuse as well.
