    Garelick kicker bracket corrosion

Yes, it is salt water and very salty at that (sea of Cortez) the corrosion is on the lower parts of the 2 alu. angles used to fasten the articulated bracket to the transom. There is no articulation there, just immersion. On the main motor I did use the proper zinc for saltwater, I remember that...

    Garelick kicker bracket corrosion

Has anyone with a Garelick bracket experienced corrosion on the lower part of the mounting frame below waterline? I can't say I am surprised knowing that aluminum and salt water seldom get along but it only has been 3 months since I installed the bracket and at the present rate of corrosion...

No, its in the same cabinet but I turned the water heater sideways and to the back to gain a little bit more of storage room.

ProNautic 12-30C wire size for 38 foot round trip?

Is that in the water heater cabinet? The whole project did take way more time than anticipated when I installed mine. I also reworked the batteries, ACR and switch cabling at the same time. Lots of time laying on the deck but well worthit so far.

ProNautic 12-30C wire size for 38 foot round trip?

I connected the chassis ground to an existing large negative terminal block located behind the starting battery in starboard side lazarette. I used a #8 cable left over from the old charger (10 amp) installation.

ProNautic 12-30C wire size for 38 foot round trip?

Tom, I did pretty much the same thing a few months ago except the charger is the 40 amps model. I went thru the same dilemma with cable sizes. I ended up using # 4 Ancor. The Pronautic puts out 14.6 v which seems to do the job even with the small voltage drop. Blue Sea System sells large in...

Do any brats use marine charts?

Currently in the Sea of Cortez, Garmin e-Charts are way off, Navionics mostly right on. A good local cruising guide with charts of anchorages, approach waypoints and pictures is also very useful. No traditional paper charts on Deja La, I carried them for 15 years on our last sailboat, never used...

    autopilot

i have been looking at the EV-150, seems like a perfect fit for the 25 with the ACCU 200 and type 1 pump in the kit, anyone installed one of these yet? Right now I only have the "Mary Pilot" and she is getting tired of it...

    Battery Chargers (again)

I just finished installing a 40 amp PronauticP, about $320. Plenty to read about that series out there, from 10 Amp to 60 Amp I believe. They are made by Promariner.

First cruise on CD-25 Deja La

We did try to get away from the crowds but you are right, at this time of year it was near impossible. The winds started blowing pretty hard for the last 3 days and would start mid morning til late evening, made it a real challenge to anchor. Got my bow anchor stuck bad a couple times on some...

First cruise on CD-25 Deja La

Thanks for all that , makes sense, I will be at Sea Level in salt water in the future and most likely not back on lake Powell, so maybe i should wait and see how that compares before making a prop decision. At 4500 I was at or very near 19 knts. Sorry for the double posting, don't know what...

First cruise on CD-25 Deja La

I just got back from 10 days or so in Lake Powell, this was my maiden cruise on "deja la". The Yamaha F-150 has a 15 x 15 1/4 alu prop. During the test ride with the PO last November, with a virtually empty boat with only a 1/4 tank of gas we reached 5300 rpm at WOT. i thought that was a bit...

Mounting bracket for get home engine

Boris, I have a Tohatsu 9.8 A3 4stroke. i checked the owner's manual again and and it reads: "if the outboard is to be laid down (for transportation) be sure to drain the fuel and engine oil". I also took another look at the relationship of the kicker's skeg and the trailing edge of the trim...

Mounting bracket for get home engine

the main reason i have to want to keep it on the bracket is that the owner's manual says the oil needs to be drained if the motor is to be transported on its side. It is my first 4 stroke kicker and that got my attention, I'd rather not have to do that every time so I'll take the advice of tying...
