    Daily Laugh 2

A bear walks into a bar in Boise and asks for a beer. The bartender tells him, “I’m sorry, but we don’t serve beer to bears in bars in Boise”. The bear says, “Why not.? My money is just as good as anyone else’s”, and demands a beer. The bartender responds, “I’m really sorry, but I just told you...

    Alexseal white paint question

Has anyone painted their boat with a white Alexseal urethane topcoat. I've already decided on Alexseal and have purchased the Alexseal primers so I'm not asking about other brands, prep. etc. - I'm asking specifically about the Alexseal white colors. I have the Alexseal color sample chart and...

Replacing Balsa Core - Few Questions

No, it was firmly attached. There was no evidence of moisture in this area except for the reading from two different moisture meters.

Replacing Balsa Core - Few Questions

I am also replacing balsa in my cabin floor (some photos in my album) due to finding wet core remaining from a poor repair a previous owner had done to a leak in the hull. I hired Andy of Boatworks Today to advise me and he recommended two layers of 3/4" balsa w/staggered joints, covered with...

new DC/DC battery charger from Victron Energy

Yes, that's currently the problem. I'm wondering if advances in BMS design can help resolve this. Mercury recently announced the approval of Li start batteries that meet certain specifications (Relion RB100-HP, for example) for use with certain outboards (including the 115hp). The fact that...

new DC/DC battery charger from Victron Energy

I agree. I wish they had offered that a year earlier! You may be right and it would be a dream product for a C-Dory. I wonder if the need for DC/DC converters may soon go away as manufacturers start making LiFePO4 house batteries with a BMS that can accomodate charging from an alternator/stator.

    Modification- Propane lockers

I'm modifying each lazarette to hold a 5 gal. horizontal propane tank. Starboard tank for heater and stove. Port tank for BBQ. Problem: Existing lockers are too small. Solution: Make them bigger. This means not just the interior of the locker, but the opening as well. I also wanted the opening to ma
  18. These are the sanding blocks I fabricated for the sanding work I did on the roof. I have power sanders, of course, but rarely used them for two reasons - 1) The blocks allow for even sanding with no dips and swells, and 2) the blocks don't get dust all over my shop like a power sander does, even when used with vacuum system. Oh, and 3) the use of the blocks provide a nice upper body workout.(winking smile emoji here)
