Thanks all for your responses and replies. My windlass was tried at survey but not in water yet. With the info you've all given I'll be able to adjust and service it and hopefully be able to operate it as I slowly cruise down the eastern seaboard :smiled

A lot of good info for me to learn and practice! I'll be going solo on the ICW to MS from NY. I've read it's a real good idea to mark the chain and line at various points to let me know when the anchor is almost up. Is this a model 700 and do you have access to a pdf manual? Glenn

I can see why do would want it mounted as you do. Good idea not having to move a heavy generator around every day. I don't know about the tubing you installed.
