    Fuel Run

Guess the difference in price is "yacht" vs. commercial / work boat prices. Thanks for the pictures -- you always have interesting ones. Curious: Does anyone know what the boat with the net canopy is used for? Would not be much shade!!

    Good bye to shadow dog.

Tom, my sincerest condolences. Dogs bring so much to our lives and their leaving is a hole that is impossible to fill. It hurts so much that I always swear I'll won't get another. Time heals and eventually dog comes along and that needs a home. Dr Bob is right-- what you did is an act of...

    STOLEN C-DORY ON 7/27/18

L Just guessin'......but I imagine that if I asked a prosecutor: "What's going on?". He or she would have a different explanation.Sure. Of course. They would provide you some "liberalese" explanation...use lots and lots of words that don't mean anything. Like inclusiveness and consensus and...

    Long cruise equipment check list

Hmmmmm, How did sailors ever get around before chart plotters????? I’m old so maybe tihis doesn’t count, but, I managed quite well for more years without a plotter than with. I think I’m not the only one! I love my older but still really nice plotter but still have a chart out or handy for the...

    Hull repair substance?

A quick search online provided plenty of evidence that, with proper surface prep, gel coat can be used over epoxy. This agrees with my experience. Here is a video of one craftsman's DIY test of compatibility. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kHAbyglpp3M There is plenty more evidence.

    Hull repair substance?

Easy Does It, Based on a lifetime of building and repairing surfboards and some limited experience of repairing fiberglass on boats I would recommend using a good grade of marine epoxy (along with glass cloth if the existing cloth has been damaged). Epoxy makes a much stronger mechanical bond...

CD 25 Cruise Ship Lois Chair

Tyboo, you're too modest about yout skills! This is the best designed seat conversion yet. Since I copied your kicker bracket I'll feel no shame using this idea too. Thanks! Localboy, I had a '60 Wesphalia with the tilting front bench seat. It worked out great. In the "halfway" position the seat...

    Anchor Drum Winch

I've thought about getting one. So far it's bulk and cost has held me back. Most all of the fishing boats around here use heavy duty hydraulic versions. Here's one on Shearwater http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_ ... _album.php This is a neat one a fellow Brat made - neat idea and looks...

FG patches in forward portion of hull ???

I believe Harvey is right. Those small lumps cover the back of the rivets that hold the rub rail on. On my older boat the rivets where exposed on the inside and appear to have been covered with 5200 or similar. Without the covering the rivets would leak. The hull/deck joint is fiberglassed...

    Brakes lock up when backing

Dan & Ken It's nice and amazing to have Dr. Bob here with his eidetic/photographic (not sure which one he has but he has) mind. I usually have a hard time remembering where I left my boat. Amen, brothers!! He is amazing and we’re really lucky to have him!!

    Brakes lock up when backing

My '07 E-Z Loader trailer does not have a solenoid either. There is a button on top of the coupler/ brake applicator. This must be turned to lock out the brakes for backing. Then, don't forget, after backing, to turn button back before driving off (or brakes won't be working!!).

Help Please! Thoughts on Weather in Gulf over Next Week?

RF (Greg?), l couldn't let this hang. In terms of lack of sanity, I was not referring to you but the world in general. Not sure if we live in a crazier time than the past but it appears so to me. Your reference to weather engineering while perhaps possible seems to me to be in left field. I'm...

Help Please! Thoughts on Weather in Gulf over Next Week?

I don't know--obviously, there's not much!!! As far as I can seen, way out in left field is as good a place to be as any. At least it's entertaining!
