    disintegrating "boots" for engine controls

The boot on our year old, low,low hours boat was falling apart. We were able to get it replaced under warranty at Wefings. Jef -- at Wefings -- indicated that the factory is aware of the problem and may act on it at some point. Regards to all, Greg

    This is really bad!

By the way, I always appreciate and admire Joe's insights and advice on boats. Women are another story. (Yes, where is that tongue-in-cheek emoticon when you need it?) I believe in dealing with women from a position of weakness, although I am a frequent violator. Hanging head, slumped...

    This is really bad!

Hi Steve -- Congratulations on eliminating your source of stress. Confession is, in fact, good for the soul. However, for whatever my opinion is worth, I would never allow her to know about this thread. My wife would readily forgive me the boat. Finding she was a topic of discussion...

Tomorrow I drill through the roof...

There is most definitely a "moment" before pulling the trigger. I mounted my new stern rail yesterday, and I must have measured, masked and clamped over and over for 45 minutes. Even after measuring repeatedly, I cringed a little as the drill bit in. All went well. :) Regards to all, Greg

    late apology

Hi Dave -- I was a little shocked to see this thread surface, but I really appreciate your graciousness. We hope to make a northwest gathering next year and will look forward to meeting you and getting to know you. You can count on my owing you several beers. Warren -- Your wisdom reflects...

    Home Page Change

I second Byrdman's sentiments. First, I also appreciate the gift of Mike and Bill's efforts. Their contributions give them great latitude in making decisions about the site. Second, I try to remember that often it is simply change itself making me uncomfortable, not the real effects of the...

    New construction method?

Thanks, Joe. There's nothing like a little knowledge from a good source to reduce needless stress. :) Greg

    New construction method?

How should the rub rail rivets be sealed over on the inside. While cleaning the boat yesterday for our first big trip I found some bumps on the interior of the hull about rub rail height -- starboard side in the v-berth and also in the dinette -- that are soft. I assume caulk and painted over...

    New C-Dory Owner

Hi Marty -- Good tip. Another is a strategy for using the mirrors. When possible line the trailer tires up with a parallel line. On a ramp it would be a joint in the concrete. Hand on top of the wheel, turn toward the side the trailer is moving in the wrong direction toward. The parallel...

Hi Warren, Jill would tell you that in relation to the Power Caster the traction issue is almost totally about tongue weight. We are using it on concrete, but it will work on gravel or even grass with enough traction. They do offer a knobby tire for off concrete use. The unit mounts to and...

Water intrusion from trim tab mounting?

I also have the same questions about other factory work -- like the thru-hull for the cockpit washdown and the factory mounted engine. Regards to all, Greg

    New C-Dory Owner

Hi Dan, For reasons I've mentioned in another thread we found ourselves with a difficult parking situation. In our case, a guide stripe on the drive made parking OK, and we considered hand held radios to make it easier, but my wife preferred a solution that eliminated her stress, instead of...

    C-Brats biggest loser

Hi Roger -- Resting heart rate and the time to recover to 120 are good indicators of training effect, so as you track them, they can contribute to motivation. Unfortunately, you didn't establish a baseline, so given your current state of advanced fitness, you may be cheated out of the...

    C-Brats biggest loser

Congratulations, Roger, on your success and on doing it the right way, which is the key to keeping the weight off over time. As I'm sure you know, the exercise component is critical. It not only stimulates an increase in muscle mass -- and a pound of muscle burns more calories than a pound of...

If you click on the Kingfisher button at the bottom of Harbercraft's home page, it will take you to the big boats in their ocean series. Regards to all, Greg

    late apology

Well this is embarrassing. I hate it when I'm a dumb-ass. I was going to post this in "That's Life" in the thread it references, but I fear seeing the "Proud American" thread surface might spoil members' morning coffee, and besides, that forum is too private for my well-deserved public...

    05/14 - 05/18 - 6th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza

We bought our boat from The Outboard Motor Shop just a few miles from Jack London Square. I can't speak to their willingness to host a dinner, but they are very nice people. You would probably want to contact Bill Burkhart, the general manager. He is a great guy. Phone = 510.533.9290. I...

    cd 25 tow vehicle

I agree with Anita Marie on the need for as much truck as you can get if you are going to pull long distances. Jim/Wild Blue frequently advises advice seekers to factor in their intended uses. We pulled our 25 back from CA last summer with a short wheelbase, 1/2 ton 5.3. It was not fun...

    Getting Hammered / Old Leghumper

Having been hammered by storms throughout the winter, we share your pain. We are 5 degrees this morning but no snow and 50s predicted by Wednesday. As we get closer to really using our boat, the subject of good dark brews is very important. I'm always interested in good local beers, etc., and...
