    Cape Cruiser 23 Desirability

another huge plus. on the 3rd for shrimping when it got nasty at max ebb with the wind, close to buried the power heads a couple times backing into the current but no water in the cockpit! as far as coring, on my 2006 (hull #19), foam transom, balsa hull and deck.

    Cape Cruiser 23 Desirability

Highly satisfied with the purchase of our 2006 CC23. Had over 300 hours on her last year. Everything from cruising the San Juan's to fishing 30 miles offshore. Average fuel economy is around 3.5 MPG or better. Being 6'4" the cabin is a must on the Venture. I would think you would have an...

    Lingcod

our slot is 26"-36" for a keeper so much bigger and they live to fight another day. bigger have been released but they are rare. nothing like AK though. last i was up in Sitka, the average on the boat was 45"+ and man do you get spoiled fishing up there!

Look for the Cuisinart Mini Deep Fryer. Only takes a quart of oil and is perfect for small meals. That is what we use. Be sure to use an oil with a high smoke point like refined peanut. For pan "deep" frying, I use Crisco which has a decent smoke point and is cheap. Always remember to...

    Halibut

Agreed about the coast and would love to fish it! The cost/time investment just a bit too much without enough fishing partners and experience this year. Especially having to buy all the gear this year. Figured have some fun and learn locally then prep and moor for the season in Neah next year...

    Halibut

I have the day off for the opener tomorrow but the forecast now looks iffy with a small craft advisory. Not sure if the run from Everett out to Mutiny sounds all too pleasant in that. What would take an hour becoming 2+… Regardless, has anybody done well in the Admiralty area? How about the...

    shrimping

8-2 treated us well yesterday with 4 limits by noon. ended up dumping 50-60 back out of the last 2 pots. made a run back to drop off gear and back out to drift Hat Island for some Ling. Only got an hour and a half in but was fun searching for sand dabs regardless. Great day on the water...

    shrimping

went out for the first time this year. somewhere a bit north of Tulalip Bay where a friend did well last year limiting 5 people. the first pot came up with 70 spots and thought it was going to be a good day. after that it was hard to get more than a half dozen and was a lot of work come max...

where did most put heater exhaust thru hull?

a clamshell over the vent has also been used. just make sure it is a bit larger than you would normally use to allow for proper ventilation.

    C-Dory 22 Twin Engine Question

our boat came equipped with twins. as most if not all outboards go, the engines are not "fixed" which makes outboard powered boats very maneuverable since you can direct the thrust from the props rather than relying on momentum and water passing the rudder. if you simply center your...

where did most put heater exhaust thru hull?

Up as high above the waterline as possible! I get water in on mine due to the factory install a little to close to the waterline. In heavy seas it will take water. When I install the Espar I'll add a clamshell with the new through hull (I don't want to patch and relocate).

    Seattle Boat Show 2014!!

Stopped by and dug into the Venture NW Marine had on display and coming from a CC Venture 23, their product is FAR superior in fit, finish, build quality and attention to detail. They seem to have eliminated MUCH of the bugs from previous generations and the small things they have updated are...
