A cautionary tale, overboard and boarding ladder.

Thataway - glad you are recovering. Some years ago I was asking if c-bratters (or others) would like to meet some warm day in Seattle's Lake Union and practice overboard recoveries. I suspect it would be a good idea.

    Dive Boat Fire

I was told, but I have not confirmed it, that two men were awake on the bridge. They may not have been as close to sleeping quarters as regs require.

    Race to Alaska 2019

Skipper of Sail Like a Girl spoke at a Bremerton lecture series this evening. She is pretty impressive - professional life and non-profit volunteer - as well as a sailor. Also a great presenter.

    Need A SIMPLE Chartplotter - I don't fish

6 years ago I took the USCG auxiliary basic and navigation courses (both 3 months, once a week). The gal teaching thought the Lawrernce (mine) particularly poor, and was not all that impressed the the rest. She used a computer based system. She could take the computer home and plot hundreds...

    01/25 - 01/26 - 2020 Seattle Boat Show CBGT

That is a really nice offer. Those of us who regularly use public transportation can get to Seattle (big price break at the Seattle show if you show you came by transit), and it is easy to get from the stadiums to 2nd and Virginia

    Historical wind wave averages

A not untypical wind pattern in the central Puget Sound is that we get strong north winds and waves in the afternoon on hot days. While not scary it is quite a ride in the middle of the sound.

    Balsa core hull repairs

You will probably get better answers than this, but a man working in one of the big shops at the Everett marina has repaired hull delamination and was very easy to talk to. This was about 5 years ago, but I imagine any knowledgeable person at the marina would now who he was/is.

    Seattle Boat Show 2019

I was at the boat show today, and attended two presentations - boat detailing and smartphone/pad and boating. Both were worthwhile. Rodriguez who did the later is also known for his blog Bitter End, now hosted on Facebook. I looked at the C-Dories. The aft area on the 22 looks a little...

    USS Fitzgerald

https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-nav ... at-hit-it/ This is one of two or three new stories from the Navy Times. Even more dismaying than what we have posted earlier. In my time in many years ago our ships were crewed by anti-war, short timers, as well as other sorts. But the degree of...

    C-Dory Boat Club

I see there are two seminars on boat clubs at the Seattle show this year. I plan to attend. The essential item for sharing, it seems to me, is a really good, time tested contract. It does not seem to exist. I am not wanting to experiment with the creation of such a thing. As mentioned, there...

    C-Dory Boat Club

I am well aware of the pitfalls of doing things in groups. Two condos, and HOAs with a variety gifts, talents, and shortcomings. Somehow we manage to survive. And there is WAY more at stake than a relatively inexpensive boat.

    C-Dory Boat Club

I remain curious as to why it works with planes, and especially smaller planes. Usually a good partnership is based on a good contract. And good people - another hard part. The second point is numbers. A little larger is likely better, e.g. "I am in a club that has three boats and we have...

    C-Dory Boat Club

I have looked, one of my sons did join, and I have friends who are interested in a shared boat club. I know pilots in our area have frequently been co-owners of Cessna 180s, and it all seems to be done without any problems. Whereas commercial boat clubs seem to want several hundred dollars a...

    Seattle Boat Show 2019

I thought someone was going to have a few C-Dories at the show. I would likely attend the show whenever a group of 'brats' decides to attend. Another nautical possibility would be for a bunch of us to take the Bainbridge ferry over and back, Ivers has a take-out fish and Chip place next to the...

    Electric Pickups?

Probably electric on boats will take off when they have a 75 mile range, although some of us would settle for 50. And then a kicker for back up. Obviously NOT for a trip up the inner passage!

    Seattle Boat Show 2019

Pioneer square is close by, and if an informal gathering went to a restaurant there after say 1:30 or 2 the lunch crowd would be over and talkers or beverage drinkers would likely be welcome. We could meet at the c-brat booth at agreed times - just say you are interested on this site, or...
