    Securing anchor to anchor roller

Our setup on Sierra is similar to Bob's except we use an Amsteel 1/4" line to the cleat behind the windless, it is stronger than steel and takes up virtually none of the room on the cleat leaving plenty of room for dock lines.

    Are you hunkering down?

Interesting discussion...my brother in law rented a ranch to run his cattle on, 15,000 acres, the owner was also recieving $30,000 a year NOT TO GROW WHEAT! The inside joke was that it hadn't been grown there for years because the land ended up being unsuitable. I am country born and bred and no...
  3. Point Sur from our place, it\'s not always dreary at the ranch. 2 weeks out from Mexico sheltering in place, so far we are healthy and staying home. Baja is almost completely shut down only fuel and food open (no beer!) and boating is restricted, I\'m glad we made it out but we missed the last best month in Baja. I hope to see you all in better times!

    Anyone notice?

I am not a math wiz, but I think in the end many people are going to be hurt by this pandemic. Yes some people, as always, will work it to their advantage but the vast majority will benefit in the hard times ahead. Isn't that a good thing, that our citizens in their time of need are getting help?

    Anyone notice?

I will be making less money, many of my tenants are out of work and their relief is "on the horizon" and by any measure will be less than they made with their good jobs. Dana will hopefully get unemployment but she may not as she was off by choice while we were in Mexico, normally she would have...

    C-Brats app

My Siierra Baja album and every post I have done has been on my phone, I am so used to it that my laptop seems like a hassle to use in comparison....

Replacing the fresh water tank in a 25’ C-dory

I think tsturm's solution may be the best if you have the skills. I have built water tanks for a previous boat that way and they worked out great. You have to finish the interior with a food safe coating. Good luck, Micah

    Sierras Baja adventure 2020

Dana thinks my last long final post might have been a little discouraging about the drive down especially on highway 1. Let me say it is very doable, IF you are good and confident in your driving abilities towing your boat, you have more than 1 mounted spare and your truck and trailer are in...

Replacing the fresh water tank in a 25’ C-dory

We also have an '03 I have opened up the v-berths with storage hatches and dug out all the foam, the water tank is just in front of the bulkhead. You probably will have to cut the v-berth above to remove the tank, newer 25 have the water tank in the stern where our waste tank is so it may be...

    Sierras Baja adventure 2020

Harvey, thank you, it is a pain when you have problems, but if you have a solution, then it is "all is well that ends well" I was glad to have 2 mounted spare tires as not having the 2nd would have been stressful after the one was toast. Boris, I also traveled the road down past Puertocitos in...

    Sierras Baja adventure 2020

Well, our adventure has come to the end of the road. I want to thank you all for your comments and support. We didn't expect it to end so soon, over a month early, but we were overcome by circumstance, as has been the rest of the world. In the end we wanted to be home on the ranch where we can...

    Ranger Tug vs C-Dory

I also have a Ram 3500, great truck, but overkill for a C-dory. I went over the grapevine and Tejon pass towing our boat yesterday on I 5, with the exaust brake on I never needed the brakes all the way down, there is something to be said for overkill!
  15. Looking out from the house towards Point Sur, the ocean looks so cold and wintery here compared to the Sea of Cortez.
What a long strange trip it\'s been, thanks for watching!

!THE END!

  16. Home sweet home, a good place to shelter in place, we brought lots of food and frozen meat off the boat so we can be isolated for a while. Looks like I have plenty of yard work to do after being gone!

    Ranger Tug vs C-Dory

We just cruised up the lower part of the Sea of Cortez with our friend Stuart who has a 2010 RT 29 that he bought new, he tows down to the San Carlos side from Colorado. He has been doing the Sea for years and loves his 29. Other than being dead slow compared to Sierra it is a nice boat! (10 mph...
  18. Back in our Monterey slip after 2 months away, over a month early so it is still cold, gloomy and rainy here. Overall our trip down Baja and our time out on the water was successful and Sierra did very well, pretty amazing actually!
