    22 gas tank access

I think that even though our boats are the same year we've got ones from different manufacturers. I'd be interested to see more photos of your tank/bilge area since it sounds different than mine. Bob's also sounds different since I only have cleats/rails on one side of each tank, and my floor...

    22 gas tank access

Over the weekend I got the gas tanks out and cleaned up the tank/bilge area (it was nasty!). I undercut and epoxied the screw holes where the strap anchors attach to the floor. I still don't really like having screws into the balsa core, so I'm thinking of alternatives. I also figured out a way...

    gas tank strap alternatives?

Our boat only has cleats on the inside edge. In front, the tanks push against the cover panels which are held in place by the permanent floor panels and the overhang under the splash well and lazarettes. So there's nothing in front to screw in to besides the floor. Also, the screws they used...

    gas tank strap alternatives?

I've had the tanks out for a few days to do some cleaning and so I could take a look at the gas tank hold down strap hardware. My tanks are kept from moving side to side with a kind of glassed in curb strip. Between the top of the tanks and the underside of the motor well, there's a constant...

    anchor light placement

Nope. I'd love to have that radar too!

    anchor light placement

I'd like to eventually get a dinghy (RU260 or something like it), but we have a low radar arch, and I'm guessing that with the inflatable on the roof we wouldn't be able to have the white nav/anchor light installed. Are there any legal limitations on the positioning of the white light? I'm...

Is there a way to change the hour meter reading?

I said it before, but I believe if there are only 2 contacts, how could it be "shorted"? To apply power to the meter it needs a voltage drop across the 2 contacts. I'd assume it doesn't hold any power, so shorting wouldn't do anything. And if you short it while it's powered, you'll blow a fuse...

Is there a way to change the hour meter reading?

There are only 2 terminals on both of the hour meters we've had on our boat, so I don't think that shorting could reset the stock Faria or replacement meter. When we got our boat the meter was stopped at 85h and the owner said it had been seized for a while. When we got our 200h service, we...

    22 gas tank access

I had an unexpected day off from work yesterday, so I figured it was a good day to do a project while my wife worked from home. I've been planning on installing the swim step, and I don't really like the idea of lag bolts for the lower fasteners (the factory recommended lag bolts since it's...

    Radar Removal

Another reason to think about a pedestal -- if you need to send it in for service, you just unbolt it. If you mount the flat radar base to the curved roof, that will mean a lot of sealant and therefore a pain to get it off again. Ours is on a low radar arch, but I wish we had a high one so we...

    Radar Removal

I have my Furuno 1715 display hanging off the overhead shelf. When folded up it is completely out of the way. When folded down (70 degree angle), it blocks part of the view out the window, but just sky. It does come near obscuring the horizon for me, which is most important. I'm 6'0" by the way...

Probably means hole pattern, right? 160mm square vs 210mm square.

    attaching stuff to cabin interior

Depending on year, some parts of the roof are cored. In our 2006, the lower outer section of the roof is cored, which I could verify by looking up into the holes where cables go into the radar arch. It's about 1/4" of coring. All the ceiling hardware (dome lights, cable clips) goes into this...

Feed back please on price of a 91 c dory 22.

We bought our 2006 22 Cruiser this time last year with radar, 2006 Suzuki 90 with 185 hours for $34 with a King tandem trailer. I didn't speak up until now, but I was thinking that $24k might be on the high end unless it was very very nice. Of course, ours did not come with trim tabs or a...
