    Boat name vendors

We used Speedy Signs since they had a LOT of fonts and really liked the result: http://www.speedysigns.com We ordered cast vinyl, with no UV laminate -- it wasn't necessary from what I read. The 2 decals were about $60 shipped. The application was a lot easier than I had imagined, with a...

    Replacement Lazarette Covers (Again)

Certainly, I didn't mean to say I learned all I used for projects I've done so far from those links -- however I did use them as examples when doing the bow roller. I went with your excellent thread when doing the hatches, and I had a feeling when I did the hatches that they would have a hard...

    Replacement Lazarette Covers (Again)

These fantastic HOWTOs that I found via this site: http://www.pbase.com/mainecruising/sealing_the_deck http://www.pbase.com/mainecruising/rebedding_hardware recommend butyl when fastening hardware to our boats. The author also shows in the rebedding article, a dinghy where he has used butyl...

    Replacement Lazarette Covers (Again)

I would not use butyl tape for the hatches. I have used it under metal parts (anchor roller, cleats) where I countersunk the screw holes. Metal parts will be strong enough to push the butyl into the countersink depression, and excess will ooze out the sides of the part you are mounting. The...

    Door key blanks

Make sure you take the keys to a real locksmith! We've had spares cut by Fred Meyer and Home Depot that would both jam in the lock and only unlock the door -- they were almost impossible to lock with. The automatic machines are kind of crap. We were going to get brand new keys made by a local...

    Spare Cabin Keys

Our 2006 has the glass door, and the original key/lock is from Trioving Norway. The direct replacement was the Ilco T06, which wasn't available from small hardware stores, but was in stock at the first local locksmith we went to. But it sounds like the 2002 had a different lock mfg.

    Sunbeam ~ C-Dory 22 Cruiser

Very nice. If I had installed them that way I would definitely be doing this! I installed mine to swing in so I could access them from the dock or standing on the trailer wheel wells, but I still cringe when I have them half way open and they blow all the way open!

Outsmart sliding window ( overboard ) latch pop offs

I used Liquid Rollers on mine, which has been recommended here before, and it didn't really help. Maybe my tracks are too dirty for that to help.

Outsmart sliding window ( overboard ) latch pop offs

I wonder why these things weren't mechanically fastened in the first place. It seems like the handle could be bolted to the window if care was taken to prevent the bolt from directly contacting the window, i.e. with grommets and washers. The adhesive would still be the primary means of...

    Sliding under sink drawers

Might be worth looking at Ikea drawer slides and wire baskets for a custom galley cabinet. The hardware is actually pretty high quality (full extension glides, soft close, 3 way adjustable hinges, etc.), and assuming you can fit 2' drawers it might be a good option.
