I had a Tohatsu 6hp on my 22, and it could push it at hull speed, or about 5mph. I wouldn't go much less than that in HP, but you really don't need more than that either. Unless you get up to a much higher HP, you're not going to get much more speed than what the 6hp produced. Colby

Install a Webasto heater! I had one in my 22, and now in my 25. Safe and efficient. At least as well as can be expected for an uninsulated C-Dory! 8) Colby

Thanks Jeff. I rethought the caps to seal the slider pin as well. Unless I'm sealing both ends, I think it's better just to leave them open so any water or sand can flush out. There is very little freeplay between the pins and bushing anyway. I may still have to grease the pins every so often...

I'd just stick them on a regular car battery charger, and see if the voltage is brought up and how long they hold the charge. If they work, they work. You may be able to find a date stamp on them somewhere. Also, I would check the casing to insure there is no damage anywhere.

So was twin 150's a typo, or do you really have twin 150's on the back of your 25? If you have twin 150's, what kind of fuel numbers and top speed are you seeing? Any problem with the weight on the transom?
