    Lake Powell General Information

Thanks Jody. Actually I put a post out on Wayneswords yesterday. I launched at Bay Bridge a couple of years ago, at least if that's the one at the marina there. I don't remember that ramp being shallow at all. At least not like Bull Frog. This was in early September. I'd love to join you...

    Lake Powell General Information

Hi Donald, SSobal answered it well. But to add a bit to it. If you travel west of the Rockies, you can expect to stop at each state for an AIS inspection of your boat. Most of these are pretty straight forward as long as your boat looks clean. And many states, even east of the Rockies...

    Lake Powell General Information

Bringing this thread back up with a question. I've never launched at Stateline or Wahweap. Anyone know how the ramps there compare to Bullfrog? Bullfrog was a real PITA to get my 22 off it's trailer when launching, due to how shallow the ramp was. You had to back the tow vehicle in the water...

    Anchor Drum Winch

Speaking of anchoring and watching out for the other guy, something I passed along at Hontoon, and I'll mention here. When anchoring with other boats nearby, consider both wind and current, and then your DRAFT! Our boats don't draft much and will be more affected by wind than current. Other...

    How safe are anchor swivels

Good morning Donald. The swivel just helps to keep the chain from twisting as you bring the anchor up. Some use one, some don't. But a few have stated it does make a difference. But it is a weak point on your anchoring rode, so you want to make sure you have one you can trust. I had one for...

    How safe are anchor swivels

Thanks John. I did use the cotter pin to lock the bell housing in position, and just used the SS safety wire to secure the bolt holding the anchor clamp. Tom called me and said he just took his apart to do some work and it still looked good after the time he has had it. He felt my pin was...

    How safe are anchor swivels

Hi Jody, Yes, I used the oblong pin that came with it. Just seems like too much is left showing beneath the collar. Colby

    How safe are anchor swivels

Resurrecting this thread with a question. After a discussion at the Hontoon gathering, and seeing the Mantus chain swivel, I decided to change my Lewmar swivel out for this robust monster. I am a little concerned about the pin that holds the chain in the swivel however. Seems like it wouldn't...

    Canvas

Donald, go to my Midnight Flyer album, and look for the nested album on my enclosure. I had it custom done by a local guy that does good work. The same guy did the bimini on C-Traveler. I don't remember if the bimini folded forward as well on my 22, but it does on my 25. So I can fold it...

    Windlass/Rode Setup

Here is a photo of my anchor setup while deployed. And if you look closely at this one, you can see how I use a rubber bungee cord to snub up the anchor rode so it's not so noisy sliding on the front roller when sailing in the wind.
