Slot at end south jetty, Westport.

Forrest, Great info for those who have not had the pleasure of using the "hole in the wall" I went in and out last Thursday and never had to slow down coming back in to the river, very unusual. After a long run south to find the kings it is nice to take the short cut on the way in and out.

    Westport is picking up

Ca-ya will be making it's first trip of the year to West port on Thursday. Several friends have been out this week and limited by 1pm. One group headed 270 degrees out to 165' and another group went 17 miles south off of Wilapa bay. They all got fish.

    05/16 - 05/18 - Friday Harbor 2014

Thank you Barry and Patti, Cathy and I had a great time and a smooth trip home. We had the boat washed and put away by 3pm leaving plenty of time to unwind and catch a nap. Thanks to all for a great weekend.

What did I do wrong? What should I do in the future?

Gratitude, I had the same type of experience. Now I raise my trim tabs and slow down. My hearing couldn't take the screaming of the spousal unit if I slammed into another large wake again. She gave me the look that she usually reserves for breaking up dog fights, once was enough. The waves...

    04/11 - 04/13 - Cathlamet

Ken, Maybe you can find some "floaters" on your way down river. I'll bring costco dogs in case you have slim pickings. We will be invading Cathlamistan by land Friday afternoon. See you there!

    tackle organization

You two are talking about tackle boxes not fishing boxes. Pat Mcmanus would recommend just dumping everything into a 5 gallon bucket. When you need something just pick up the clump of lures ect. and turn it around until you find the one you want and pick it off. Every season starts out in a...

    Possession Salmon

I agree with Forrest that entering the ocean via the" hole in the wall" is the best and easiest way to go. Just stay about 30yds from the end of the south jetty, slow down and cross a few confused lumps and you are in the ocean without having to cross the bar. I have been doing it for close to...

    Westport Report

Nice report! West Port has always been my favorite place to fish for salmon. We have only made it out twice this year. We limited the boat both times just off buoy 4. On a good incoming tide the bait has been balling up there. I have been trying to use a knuckle buster for the first time...

RV travel seems just like our CD22 today

This year Cathy and I are doing much the same in regards to not using the boat for our vacation. We will be using the pick-up and camper and towing the cargo trailer with the motorcycle inside. The motorcycle will be our "dingy" for side trips. We are going to check out the "dry" side of...

non boating dog question. invisible fence

Tom, We put up 1100' of stock fence in the back yard for our golden retriever. We put up 36" fence that the dog doesn't challenge and it doesn't slow the deer down at all. The deer are so terrified of the dog some times they even look up when she barks at them. Once in a while when she...

    Hitch for camper pulling 22

Warren, We use the Torklift super hitch with the 26" extension. With the 9' Summerwind camper the rear step folds down on the hitch making it rock solid.
