    Cruising Willapa Bay

I have spent way too much time exploring the mud in Willapa Bay. Every late summer you will find me salmon fishing off of wash-a-way beach. We follow the salmon up the Willapa river. Launching at Smith Creek can be a lesson in navigation as the limbs and poles that mark the channel seem to come...

    Westport bottom fishing

Joe, It all depends on the weather and tides as to where I bottom fish. If The conditions are good I like to drift over the sunken jetty using jigs. If I have to run north to the rock piles I usually end up off of Pacific beach. The sunken jetty holds lings, sea bass and the rest of the tasty...

Thoughts on RAM 1500 Eco Diesel

I too have used Dave Smith, three times. The savings are great. On all three trucks and jeeps the savings over the Olympia and Centralia dealerships has been over $5000 per rig. That's a pretty good days savings for me. I use the internet sales, they call me with a price and I buy it.

Wash a way beach out of Tokeland is heating up nicely. We boated eight silvers in 3 hours. It should continue through August.

Bill, Thank you for posting this! It's a great read even for someone who has spent their entire life in the pacific northwest. It explains so much.

    Workshop on maintaining/repairing a Wallas

Roger, If time allows I would love to learn more about our stove. It has never let me down and it came with the boat in 2006. Oldgrowth Dave and I repaired several stoves at a Bellingham get together several years ago. All but one were simple repairs.

    How Large a Barage for a 19?

Ten foot wide would be a minimum for me. I have 12'x12' doors on our "toy storage". If you have space and resources enough, make sure the building is big enough to have room to walk around the stored toys. I built my shop 40'x64' with four 12'x12' doors. Sometimes I wish it were bigger.

    Westport Coho

Roger, Glad to hear you made it to my playground. We have had easy picking on the coho all year. Early in the year it was those darned Kings that kept us busy. The last few weeks we have been fishing at Wash away beach out of Tokeland. You are allowed 3 silvers a day and wild ones are good to...

Fish ladder alternative: the salmon cannon

In my misspent younger years I worked raising salmon for 10 years. Not so sure it's so great for fish but might be one hell of a way to get kids to school without all the buses. Just aim and launch.
