    Porta Potti, any suggestions

That is a good question Bob. The official regulation is it has to be secured (ie no picking up and dumping) and any thru hull discharge has to be locked. Of course you know there are boats that go up with porta pottis. I will ask on another small sailboat forum, though I know I will catch hell...

    Porta Potti, any suggestions

A self dump porta potti will currently suffice in British Columbia waters, though not in the Great Lakes Canadian waters. My C-Dory is strictly pump out, but I have installed an MSD in another boat that can be pumped or emptied by hand. Given that regulations can change I thought that was the...

    Deckwork on Wild Blue

Hi Michael, Thank you Yes the cleats and windlass are bedded in butyl. The hardwood I used is Cumaru and yes a eye could be put into it, although at this point I don't have a reason to. When I back the center cleat, because it straddles the anchor locker bulkhead, I will have backing that will...

    Deckwork on Wild Blue

Thanks Sunbeam, fortunately I have paid attention to some of the best over the years. I have decided to go ahead and pull the center cleat and back it with some hardwood also like I did the new cleats.

    Deckwork on Wild Blue

Hi Boris, The old lens had a Nicro solar vent in it. Though it wasn't leaking it was pretty ugly to look at from the Vberth. Jim had already purchased the replacement but had not put it in. The sealant used was the Ultra3000 ? recommended for the lens that also came with it as well as a new...

    Deckwork on Wild Blue

One small winter project I had planned for Wild Blue was putting a couple of bow cleats on to allow a bridle setup for anchoring. When over drilling and filling for the cleat bolts, I noticed that the windlass had been installed without any sealing for the chain hole or bolts. How factories can...

Though I agree that knowing a person's real name can give a greater sense of connection, I don't think making someone feel unwelcomed if they choose not is a very good idea. I am on quite a few forums, moderator of a few, and there are some users that for what ever reason choose to stay...

I added mine to my signature block, but it doesn't seem to always show (at least on my screen)

    Simple Shower

Yes, with it mounted on the arch (and a little longer hose) I can rinse off all parts of the boat.

    Simple Shower

This is what we used on Wild Blue this past fall, and what I have used previously on small sailboats. It ties smartly onto the Radar Arch, giving it good exposure to heat up. The only improvement I would make is a longer hose in order to reach the swim step.

    Race to Alaska

Being somewhat familiar with the R2AK from the SCA R2AK forum and also having sailed small boats thru the Gulf Islands and Desolation, though not in June, I can say specific local knowledge of currents is going to be as vital as knowing what the wind will be doing. If you know the currents you...
