I’ve been trying to figure out how a hammock might work out using the gunnels and came across this: https://crestliner.excelimages.com/21611-j-hook-hammock I can’t really figure out how it is attached and if something like this could work on a C-22. Any ideas?

Hey Pete, we actually went with the Aqualon (?) material. Angola actually talked me out of the more expensive Sunbrella as they said for mainly rainy weather, it would be better. More waterproof and the breathability wouldn't matter quite so much since we wouldn't be baking the boat in the sun...

I'll be ordering one tomorrow from Angola. It looks like Sunbrella and Aqualon have the same warranty, but Aqualon is $100 cheaper. Thoughts?

So, heading into my first PNW (Portland) winter as a C-Dory owner... I don’t have a cover or a camper back. Since we don’t get a ton of snow, do you think getting a camper and using it as a winter cover would work ok? Not sure I can swing it financially, might have to just tarp it. Also...

Thanks for all the great advice. I think I may try it solo, but with somebody else on board, a few times before going full solo. I reckon I'll just dock somewhere tonight and keep it stress-free. Maybe. Unless I’m feeling extra frisky tonight.

I’m forseeing more trouble bringing in the anchor than setting it. Also hoping to be able to do most of it standing on the berth through the hatch and it being a slow safe process.

I'm probably going out next week for my first solo overnight trip and have yet to try and anchor by myself. For those of you with solo anchoring experience... run down your steps for me pretty please. It will be in the Columbia or Multnomah Channel near Portland. Thanks in advance.

I guess my big (only) concern is trailering as we try to take it out once a week, and we have to trailer every time.

Since we got our boat in Feb we have trailered it to the river about once a week. Can't see being able to afford leaving it somewhere in the water anytime soon. Sounds like more of a pain for now.

All the nice things about getting a camper canvas back on my C-22 are pretty obvious living in the PNW. I was curious if there are any disadvantages? Like, getting on and off, docking, towing? Would a more simple Bimini make more sense? thanks.

I do have trim tabs, but so far, don't really know what to do them other than helping with level it out left/right when riding with a way unbalanced load. Didn't realize they could help with rough water.

Thanks everybody. The rough area was just west of Beacon Rock, sounds like that area is a regular spot for rough water. It wasn't too crazy, just had to go slow. I mainly wish I could have predicted it better as we are trying to get our dogs used to the boat and they were very unhappy about...
