    Gas leak

I had a leak too. It was a hose. Apparently the E-10 gas eats away at hoses (from the inside, of course). I decided to replace ALL the hoses. Quite inexpensive, and easy too.

    Vinyl Helm Seat

I got a highback seat at Cabela's that folds flat (see photos).

Seating and sleeping for 4/5 (C-22)?

When my wife are alone, we sleep in the V-berth, and place the porti-potti in the aisle at the back of the cabin. If there are others sleeping in the cabin, we move it out into the cockpit at night.

Seating and sleeping for 4/5 (C-22)?

Yes, Dave, if I have a full boat load of guests, the issue of balancing side-to-side can be a challenge. I sometimes locate guests where I want them...putting the 250 pounder in the cockpit on the starboard side, and the 125 pounder opposite. Like you, anticipating such loading, I keep the...

Seating and sleeping for 4/5 (C-22)?

You may wish to see my "mods." The "Dinette to Sofa Conversion" facilitates seating 3 guests comfortably (4 in a squeeze!) plus the captain = 4/5. With an additional 4 folding "captain's chairs" in the cockpit, 8 people can be seated quite comfortably. The so-called "backboard" can also be...

    battery wiring

Since we are talking batteries... Besides the CD-22, we have a 32' Jayco Designer 5th wheel trailer. It is an older unit (1997) but very well built: oversized converter, 50 amp service, etc. We have never had an electrical problem with it. BUT the battery wires are connected to the opposite...

C-22 Porta Potti... why always "never used"?

FYI... We have devised a simple. inexpensive solution to the privacy issue. I mounted coat hooks on either side of the aisle in the cabin, using the bolts that mount the exterior rails on the roof. We have a 2' wide curtain that can be hung on these hooks. This does not provide complete...

    Full cockpit cover & sloper

I have both covers. They use the same set of snaps on the boat. When the boat is not in use, the sloper is always put in place. It keeps out the rainwater, as well as leaves and other debris. I can't imagine life without it. The camperback has never been used!

    Golf Carts

We have a cottage in an Association-owned campground on L. Ontario. We haveca. 100 golf carts here. Most are Club Cadet electrics; only a couple of EZ-Go gas carts. We have a Yamaha 48 volt: it runs great. Batteries are key on the electric carts. Trojan brand are the best, but expensive...

    Gunk in Sliding Window Tracks

This past week, I gave the exterior of my '99 CD-22 a thorough cleaning. As I was rinising off the cabin with a hose spray, small pieces of dirt begin falling below the sliding windows...and continued to fall. Finally, I realized that this "gunk" was coming from the sliding tracks for the...

    New C-Dory owners

It's nice to know that there is another CD-22 in Rochester! It will be nice to have another boat (of any kind, but esp. a C-Dory) on the Erie Canal!

    Can a V6 Tacoma pull a 22' Cruiser?

    Yes, with 4D I would not expect a problem. I had 2D.

    Can a V6 Tacoma pull a 22' Cruiser?

My experience was this: Towing was no problem. But pulling the boat out of the water up a wet ramp was "iffy."

Diverting Course from Lake Powell to Lake Roosevelt!

I say: Hang on to the Titan! It sounds like a perfect truck, with lots of life left in it yet!! ON THE OTHER HAND, here's a tale for you... I am the second owner of a '97 Chev Silverado 3/4 HD. It is a beautiful red PU, with the biggest stainless cross-bed box one can buy, stainless running...

What did you spent a lot of time on and rarely use?

I spent a lot of time and thought (mostly thought) on the so-called Dinette Conversion. While it still allows for the original table/gaucho arrangement, we have not had the left side in that configuration since the "conversion"...not even once. The Dinette Conversion has been well used! On...

    Twin Power vs Single

For most of us, it is pretty hard to make a direct comparison...because we have either one setup or the other (not both!). I experience NO tendency to "turn" with twin Honda 40's. I bought the boat used, and paid to have the engines checked out and serviced the first year. Thereafter, I have...

protecting boat on a long haul

We wrapped the front of our CD with bubble wrap for one long haul. It worked well. However, the residue of the duct tape was hard to remove. (I assume that there must be a product for this purpose.)
