    C-brat flooded

Just added a second one taken looking directly down the Strait of Juan De Fuca. Street is appropriately named Whitecap Lane. The red sign is where the parking lot ends and there is (probably was) a small boat ramp there. No-one launching that day. Make your own estimate about the size of the...

    C-brat flooded

Yesterday was pretty wild on Camano and Whidbey Islands. The combination of a very high tide plus W/NW winds down the straits did a number on many roads particulalry along the West. We took a walk at Fort Casey and I have added a photo entitled "nasty" to the kingfisher album (sorry I'm no good...

    Crazy Washington Tides?

Yeah Tom. Makes me laugh when people tell me what great fuel economy they get at 5 kts. Try it with 3 Kts current on the nose and compare the answer with 15 Kts through the water :-) (even better, try it with 5 Kts current and tell me when you get there :-)) Is it summer yet ? M

    Crazy Washington Tides?

The tides in the PNW were surprizing for me too having been born in the UK on the Bristol channel where the tide on this Dec 15th will be +36.7 ft. (Makes for a long walk home if you get the timing wrong !!) BUT these tides were perfectly regular so easy to deal with. The Wikipedia article is...

    Want one !!

Hey Guys, Apologies if the link causes you problems, it comes from a tabloid in the UK but doesn't cause my 'puter any problems. I tried to find the original video link but that didn't seem to work. It's all about a new lifeboat that can be launched from up to 200 ft or so above water from an...

    Daily Laugh

Dang, an I'm only sex months behind you! Wait, that can't be right, June is ahead isn't it ? Anyway, congrats and if it makes you feel any better I asked my Doctor the other day if all these invasive rubber glove tests were necessary since they probably wouldn't do much even if she found...

open fishing seat for friday morning

Charlie, Where we live on Whidbey we are just within the famous Olympic rain shadow so we laugh about the famous Blue Hole that appears above us when the rest of the PNW is getting P'd upon so I really need a network of stations to tell me about the outside world. Right now the site I quoted...

Wallas kerosene heater-only (not cooker) question

We run a Wallas 30 DT on the Rosborough and it is very effective. There is no smell from the unit itself or the tank but on start-up there is often a temporary smell from the exbaust until it reaches full operating temperature. You only notice this if outside or if the wind happens to be blowing...

open fishing seat for friday morning

Tom, I tend to use a variety of weather sites as they all seem to have their peculiarities. Try this one:- http://www.mutinybayweather.com/ I have found it to be a good indicator for the Admiralty inlet area down to Posession. It is very sensitive to S winds but less so to others. If you...

    Pacific NW Cruise 2013

Craig, Welcome to the friendliest boating website in the world. Proven by the fact that they still tolerate me 5 years after we sold our C-Dory and bought the Rosborough. It appears that being a "Brat" is a behavioural trait based on being "Nice" and having fun. We have exchanged a couple of...

1/2 ton tow vehicle fo 25?

Just a point about the Electric over Hydraulic comment. This will not increase your stopping power over the 4 surge brakes you probably already have (assuming they are working correctly) but it will greatly improve your control over how the power is applied, particularly on long downhilll runs...
