Need recommendation on a hand held GPS

I’m looking for a good handheld GPS to be used as a backup for my Raymarine E80 and also when I’m too lazy to launch the C-You-Later and just want to go out in my Zodiac. As I’m in Nova Scotia Canada the device has to have an Eastern Canada map set and the closer it looks to my Navionics charts...

    Rule 1100 Question

I've had that problem and it's was the one way check valve that get stuck. I finally just chucked, it as the hose goes over the gas tank and there is no way water is doing to run back up thru the exit hole unless i'm already under water. Jim

    Schooner BLUENOSE

I'm not sure the boat was really in that bad shape. There seems to be some discussion that is was some scam and or payoff, as they did it under covers and chipped the whole boat up before anyone could react. They asked for money for a restore not a new boat. Also the designer of the Bluenose...

    Schooner BLUENOSE

Original Bluenose, built in 1921, foundered on a Haitian reef and was lost on January 28, 1946. She and was replaced by a replica, Bluenose II in 1963. Recently, the Nova Scotia secretly destroyed the replica, while saying she was in for a major rework. They are building another ship, called...

Brat Map at the top of the page

Nope, no Cat and No Ferry. You have to drive around or fly. I actually think the Cat was a scam. The city of Portland first condemned the ferry terminal, but then 1/2 a year later rented to the Cat. The Cat it was too expensive vs the old Ferry and left 5 pm from Portland and dropped you off in...

Brat Map at the top of the page

Yes, very nice place with very nice people, that is why I have a second home thier. There is no ferry now, which is shame, as I now have to drive the 14 hours straight. If you are ever in the region, drop me a note and i'll buy you a beer. Jim

Thanks for all the pointers. Glad to say there is no French requirement in Nova Scotia Canada.

Brat Map at the top of the page

How do you get your boat added to the Brat Map at the top of the page? I have my boat in Nova Scotia Canada, I don't have a pin and I'm really sad about it. Thanks in advance for the help. Jim

    Full or Empty - Winterization

I always have stabilizer in the tanks, as I mix it in 5 gal with each fill up, so i'm assuming it going to cover me at end of season when i winterize the engines. I have made a fuel transfer system with a car electric fuel pump, 40 ft of gas line and an electrical connector that can plug into...

    Raymarine update

Anyone know if the upgrade to the radar function also effects the E series in a prior saftware upgrade? The last time I had my radar on and my E80, I seem to recall i couldn't get the radar and chart overlay to work. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now i'm wondering? If so, does...

Sticking bilge pump one way valve

No one in Halifax Nova Scotia has this check value or one with the same hose dimensions. I tried to jury rig a model that was 3/4" as apposed to 1 1/8" and I got some leaks and it's just not a nice setup. I going to wait till I get back in the state and see what they have. As the cunnert outlet...

Sticking bilge pump one way valve

Anyone have a problem with the one-way valve that’s inline with bilge pump outlet hose? I keep having to remove the bilge pump, disconnect the hose, and blow in the line into it to free the one-way valve up. This seem to work for one day, and the next time I test the pump, it fails because the...

    Flushing Techniques

I've got permatrims on my Suzi 115's and I have a flushing bag, which I don't use anymore. It's kind of tight to get it in the bag, plus on my boat and trailer you have to put the bag on a platform to get it high enough. Then it is a pain to get it off and or wait for it to drain. I'm back to...

    Towing weight

I have a Nissan Frontier with a 6 speed stick. It pulls my 22' fine and with no lack of power. I get about 14-16 mpg towing on fairly level ground. It also pulled the boat uphill with very little effort. The only thing I don't like is the turning radius of the Frontier compared to my Ranger. I...

Suzuki Engine Interface (EP20,NEMA 2000) and Raymarine E80

Thanks Matt. On the Suzuki 4 inch Multi-Function Gauge that also interfaces with the EP-20 I get 1% increments, it's the Raymarine E80 that's showing 20%. I'll go back to the E80 and see if there is a scale setting that changes to 1%. Thanks Again. Jim

Suzuki Engine Interface (EP20,NEMA 2000) and Raymarine E80

OK, well my is a 115 DF 2007, so It must me a limitation of the engine for Oil pressure and not the unit, unless a new Firmware upgrade will do it. Anyone with a Raymarine E or C unit have any luck with getting Trim increments of less that 20%? Thanks Jim

Suzuki Engine Interface (EP20,NEMA 2000) and Raymarine E80

I just installed a Suzuki Engine Interface on the boat and I can't seem to get the Oil Pressure gauge to work. Also my Engine Trim only shows in 20% increments, which is kind of useless. Other than these two things all is well. Anyone have a EP-20 installed with a Raymarine C or E unit and have...

    Speaker location

I've located my front speakers under each side of the shelf above the helm; I guess they call this the electronics shelf. See pictures in my album. I used the same location for the VHF and Stereo. In the rear cockpit area I mounted the speakers under and inside of the port and starboard storage...
