Ferg, I like the Gopro fine for what we do with it, which is to video people surfing behind the boat. With the waterproof housing and various mounts, it has a lot of options for getting interesting shots. As Bob mentioned, battery life is the limiting factor for anything beyond about 1.5 hrs...

I run a Gopro camera from my iPad on our wakesurf boat and it's simple and straight forward with the Gopro app.

Thanks for all the quick responses and helpful info. All my boating has been day trips on inboards to wakeboard or wakesurf, so this will be a new adventure; I hope a 69 year old dog can learn some new tricks. :D Keep the advice coming.
