Honda has enjoyed a fairly long and consistent reputation for dependability (Yamaha has too). Perhaps this is just the result of lots of brand loyalty built over a few decades of providing a dependable product.
the tomcat has very high transverse stability due to two hulls with a low center of gravity. This gives it a greater transverse righting moment. However, this does not mean it will handle a larger seastate better than a monohull, especially a deep v, it just means you wont roll as much. The...
Also to further Bob's comment on the pumps; the tomcats have lots of pumps.
2 macerators for the fish boxes that are extremely difficult to access.
1 macerator for the head, should you forgo the airhead.
2 diaphragm type washdown pumps. One for freshwater and one for saltwater washdown hose.

The hull slap is the biggest annoyance with the tomcat. At anchor in even a small chop it is like living inside of a drum. I sleep through it but my wife wears earplugs.
my ability to break things on this trailer amazes me. The same wheel failed again. Though this time the failure was different; the spindle actually bent. This was a UFP vault arm. Coming out of my drive way the rear right tire took the entire right side load while being torqued as the...
Whales don't move for ships. If they are lucky the ships sometimes see them and more for them. On more than a few occasions I've had to come hardover on the tankers I used to work on to avoid a whale. Though I couldn't honestly tell you that i'm sure I never hit one, in the dead of night we...
Hi Harvey! the real problem with the tomcat in the backing in at an angle scenario is that your outboards are so far outboard that you have to be very careful about not letting them contact the dock. I agree, working off a stern line is a great way to bring the bow in.
Wow, that sounds like an amazing trip. I went from La Paz to Puerto Escondido when I was a kid on some guys cabin cruiser. It was an amazing trip.
What about a simple, cheap, but heavy solution; a 55 gallon drum full of water. It will add about 500lbs to the boat. There are places that...
We’ve all had a few situations where docking has been made difficult due to environmental conditions. The standard advice I hear given out is
1. Come in faster thus increasing your vector relative to the environmental vector and get a line on in a hurry. I don’t like this cause I don’t like...

So, in this picture you can see what I built for the port aft cockpit. I store my outboard motor, kayak padles, spearguns, rods and reels, etc, in this modified rubbermaid trashcan.
