    Raymarine S1000 Autopilot pump location

On my Tomcat, I removed the coaming box on the starboard side, then epoxied wooden struts along the sides as a mounting point for a board that I screwed into as a shelf to mount the pump. It is located low enough so that the pump would clear the the coaming box when it was re-installed. Also...

    What's in YOUR water tank?

It is hard to remove. If you use channel-lock, you risk cracking the housing. I have used the non-skid mat but arthritic hands or tight location of the pump may be difficult. Try a small band-type wrench, with rubber to wrap around the housing.

Need to replace throttle/shift control cables Honda 90

It's been my experience that the part numbers are on the cable, generally the last three digits reflect the length in inches. I would suggest getting the most upgraded cables you can purchase because they will work better, have less friction and less play.

    More Tomcat observations/chat

Perhaps it may have to do with the directional rotation of the props. I believe Matt has LH rotation on the starboard side and RH rotation on port side. Is that correct? It would be interesting to know what John's Tomahawk setup is.

Bought used trailer, trying to refit for cd22.

I have used kodiak stainless disc brakes on two trailers and am very happy with them. Also, this is the time to install electric over hydraulic brake actuator. I have used three different brands but I like the Titan the best. Once you go electric/hydraulic actuator, you won't go back to surge...

Warren, Are we referring to the same TR-1? I am talking about the Gladiator TR-1 autopilot for the hydraulic steering. That seems a bit much for a 10hp kicker. George

    More Tomcat observations/chat

Warren, I love my TR-1 autopilot. On my previous boats, I have had the Ratheon and Simrad units. I found out about the TR-1 Gladiator when Mercury said it was the only one they recommended for their Mercury Verado engines. It does not need a heading sensor. It works in reverse, which is...

Fuel consumption of Tom Cat 255 at low speeds

Bob, Thanks for the technical information. I think you also have the Permatrims, correct? Only 45 hours on my 150HP Mercury Verados and I swing 17"P x 14.65" diameter props to get the wot rpm within range. It amazes me that you have 21.5" P props. Are you able to achieve the WOT rpm within...

    More Tomcat observations/chat

Charlie, Keep in mind that it is not unusual to have to realign the twin engines from time to time. I added power steering pump and TR1 autopilot at different times. Hydraulic hoses had to come off and on and changed out to different lenghts. It required that I bleed the system after each...

John, Does your steering system have a liquid tie-bar? From time to time, you may have to adjust for the toe-in or toe-out condition. Teleflex website has the instructions on-line, easy to do. If it goes out of adjustment too frequently, you may have air in the hydraulic system which may...

TomCat/What's the actual weight of the 24 or 255?

I have not yet weighed my 255C Tomcat on trailer at the scales yet, but I am guessing between 10,000-11,000 lbs based on comparing with my previous big boats, one at 8,500 and the largest at 13,500 lbs. All my trucks were Ford Diesels. Started with a 1-ton, dually, long bed crew cab. Once I...

    How to kill the stink

Matt, The best product I have used is K.O. by Raritan. It is live aerobic bacteria. Also, it is important to provide as much air as possible to your holding tank. The stink develops from lack of air. If you feed more air into your holding tank, and use the live aerobic bacteria, there will...
