    Thoughts on the 16 Cruiser

I took the Doel fin off yesterday and went for a short run. The Doel fin is the same as the two pictured above. Roger, you are right in your comments about ride, bow down, time to plane, etc. I did make notes on all of those variables too. Because I need to be on the road to Anacortes in a few...

    Thoughts on the 16 Cruiser

My 16 has a Doel-Fin on it now. I'm going to take it off, do the same testing runs, then install the Permatrim and repeat. I'm only doing speeds at various RPMs, time to plane, and time to WOT. Plus some subjective performance notes. I'll include the prop size in the data (oh, that sounds so...

    Thoughts on the 16 Cruiser

Ive just spent my first night on my 2004 16 C. As many of you know, my last boat was a 19, and I've owned a 16 Angler which I took on a few cruises. I'm sitting in the V-berth with my back againist the port side of the cabin. I'm drinking my first cup of coffee and watching the sunrise. I...

    Seal and Killer Whales

"I know there are certain groups out there would make boating anywhere in Puget Sound illegal if they could" Robbi

    Look out world!

Unbelievable! It does seem like just a few summers ago that I spent a wonderful afternoon on the beach with that little girl. And look at her now! What a great picture of you and Tiffany. It speaks volumes. Congratulations to the Grad, and the Grandpa. With a very warm heart, Robbi

    Suzuki engine query

If you are not already doing so, when you get into tight spots, start your kicker and leave it running in neutral. If your main fails and does not restart quickly, go to the kicker. Not a perfect solution, but it may take away a bit of the pucker factor until you get the 90 sorted out. Robbi

    “PERMATRIM”

Ron, I think that you are right on with your observations about learning the running characteristics of the boat by adjustments of trim, motor tilt, load, and time at the helm. The 19 does take a bit more tweaking to all of the "controls". The biggest change with the Permatrim was that I could...

    “PERMATRIM”

I had a CD 19, and as Seawolf explained, the 19 and the 22 are different birds. From my experience, a 19 gains the most from having a Permatrim. Next in line is the 16 cruiser. If I had a 19, it would have one, even with trim tabs(which I had). It was the best addition to the boat I made. Even...

    Paddling around Vancouver Island

This boat is a serious rowing boat. In fact, it won the first ever international ocean rowing race in 2006. It was the first human powered boat to row from the mainland USA to the UK without assistance. This trip around Vancouver Island (Salish Sea Expedition) is a "warm up" for a planned...

    04/06 - 04/08 - Fisherman's Terminal

What a wonderful afternoon and evening on the docks at FT. It was sunny and warm with good company to chat and share stories. Six boats as of dark last night. My 16 is sitting inside at King Marine, with the new camper back just not quite finished. Today is bright and sunny, and it...

    West Marine add

I believe that the boat still belongs to one or more members of the Reynolds family, and it lives around the south sound. Not positive. Robbi

Cell Phones and Other Sources of Fires when Refueling

As with so many email messages about the dangers of "whatever", fact and fiction are often mixed together. Some of this so called report is true, mostly the static electricity part, even though the research to date is having a hard time pin pointing the direct cause. Discharging, as Mark says...
