Put a Hot Tub in your CD 22 for Under $100

Recently, my bride said that she wanted a tub to take a hot bath when aboard C Eagle. Naturally, I always do what Im told, so I evaluated several design alternatives (most of them expensive ). In keeping with Bill and El’s KISS principle, I finally came up with a solution that needed no AC...
  9. Hot Water Test Data (Prelim.) was taken to test the heating effectiveness of the exchanger and recirculation pump. The graph plots the approximate temperature of the water in the tub over time in minutes. The water in the tub and in the boiler was initially 56 degrees F. At 25 minutes, 1 gallon of water was added to the 1 gallon in the tub to determine the recovery time after water is added.

  11. An ordinary garden hose coupling and cutoff valve is plumbed into the collapsible tub drain. The hose empties into the mid ships bilge and 1100 gph bilge pump empties the water overboard.

  14. Heat Exchanger is constructed using 25 ft of 3/8 copper tubing coils. The coils are submerged in a pot of water which is heated on the Wallas. THe water hoses are attached to the coil using quick connect fittings. Hoses are stowed out of sight behind the starboard seat cushion for quick deployment.

BYRDMAN, SENSEI & LES LAMPMAN AT IT AGAIN.....

Byrdman, We are enjoying tracking your trek out to Washington; reminds me of Clark Griswold planning the vacation to Wally World on the Apple 2 using a packman route indicator......... I noted that unlike Clark, you do not stop for anything, much less side trips to see the worlds largest ball...

How Many Days per Year Spent on Your C Dory?

Wow!!!! Thanks to all who have responded........ I'm glad I asked the question and am impressed with the amount of time C Dory owners spend on their boats. Bill and El, of course, have a record that no one will ever approach but for the rest of us, it is clear to me that as a brand, the CD...

How Many Days per Year Spent on Your C Dory?

I was just wandering as I was looking through my log for 08, how many days C Brats spend on their boats in a year. To my surprise, I discovered that we have spent 61 days so far; about 90% were sleep-aboard. When I retire, maybe we will just live on our CD. Spent 4 days last week enjoying the...
