    Triton now Northwest Marine Industries?

Les, Many excellant points. A major one being the need for a business plan, don't think they've had one at C-Dory for a long time. It has been operated more like a hobby, if someone wants a boat, we'll build one. You can't survive for long with that approach. You need to know your market...

    New/Used 2012 Marinaut for sale

Thanks for the info Les. Ironic thing when I mentioned this "used" boat to my wife, who has never seen this forum, she said it was probably due to medical reasons. Which is why I never even tell her a little white lie, she would nail me.

State of the (Marinaut) Business Report

Les, Thanks for the update. Great to hear of a boating success story! Such a great and innovative design. I still believe the 215 could be a very successful freshwater day cruiser. Just a few mods to enhance the entertainment factor. Maybe the SW Michigan and western NC boats are headed...

    Shore power

Since we're talking novice here, maybe a good time to ask some additional questions. Our marina (TN river) has what appears to be standard outdoor (meaning a little plastic cover) 110 volt outlets at each slip. They are generally used to power the boat lifts. I also use it for my battery...

    Battery Management (yep, again....)

Learned so far in this thread: 1. Electrical connections on a multiple battery setup should be left to the experts. :) Jake

    Double Hulled Boats

Of course you do have a choice with the Marinaut, Les would be happy to modify the 215 and add hatches and storage, it's the customers choice if they desire to forgo the sealed air space between the sole and the hull by adding storage. I'm not sure why they weren't molded into the sole mold in...

    Marinaut Flotation and Double Bottom

I would guess a fairly large component of the noise is a resonance in the v berth area. Probably would require extensive sound absorbing material on walls and ceiling of v berth to materially reduce the noise.

Bob, You make a good argument. Prices sound great, do you know what prices were for comparable properties back in say 2007 before the real estate collapse? Jake

Marc, In your opinion, why are C-Dorys not selling well? What boats are selling in the same price range as a C-22? Jake

Gas Tank leak on my 25

Anna Leigh, Any idea of the cost to epoxy the new tank? Just wondering how much that step adds to the total cost. Jake

Gas Tank leak on my 25

Sorry, have to admit I'm not familiar with how other builders do it, but still... gotta be a better way. The more I read about all kinds and makes of boats the more I sense it's a "as long as it works when it leaves the shop" that's good enough. Think if your car, which is much less expensive...

Gas Tank leak on my 25

Bash me, I'm sorry but that original construction is just total trash. I can't believe a boat builder would choose such a poor method of mounting a fuel tank. Jake

Rich, OK, my dumb question for the week, why do you need to go from 30amp to 15amp? Obviously my electrical knowledge is limited. Jake

Fuel flow and economy - Marinaut 215

Rich, I believe you have made some vary valid remarks backed up by hard facts as well as issuing some helpfull opinions/suggestions. Just looking at the design and knowing the weight difference, it would be hard not to think the 215 is going to get better fuel economy than a CD22 even with the...
