    Early retirement or not?

As far as money goes, one has to determine subjectively, when 'enough is enough'. Dotty and I retired on the same day, from the same place. I was 63 and Dotty 60, in 2000. While we had done 'the right things' such as paying into our IRA's and our deferred comp plans, and building up pension...

    Folding Bicycles?

Hey all, No, Bike Friday isn't manipulating anything. I wasn't clear. The deal with a Bike Friday is that they can fold in a few seconds. That gets the size down some, but if you want to make it really small to fit it into a suitcase, then you need to take it apart, and that takes some time...

    Folding Bicycles?

Hi Guys, Marty's son here. I'm a bit of a bike nut. There is a wide range in folding bikes depending on what you want to use them for and how much you want to spend. At one extreme in compactness and quick fold is a Brompton. They fold to a very compact package in about 15 seconds and are a...

    We're baaaak!

Thanks for the nice replies. The elbow is pretty well healed . That sounds like the Henny Youngman joke where the nurse asks the patient "Are you comfortable?" and he answers "I make a good living". One more week of PT and me and Medicare can end our relationship for a while. The boat is a...

    sold

Hey gang, Miss Mirth will change hands tomorrow. We have spread the word to the new owner about the great club, so perhaps you will continue to see her around. We had a fun day in Everett yesterday and even saw the folks on Sea Shift heading out to watch the Blue Angels. It was really funny...

    sold

Well I was wearing one of your t-shirts when I posted the for sale ad, so I felt more than a bit funny. I would suspect we jump back in again some day. Hopefully we stay in touch along the way. Thanks again for all the fun with the club.

    03/10 - 03/12 - Poulsbo, WA

Joe here from Miss Mirth. We (Marty, Dotty, and Joe) had a great time with our quick visit. It was nice to see you all, but I'm sure we really missed out on the pot luck. Well better a quick visit than none at all. We had a pretty rough ride back to Everett on Saturday afternoon. It was...

    07/15 - 07/17 Blakely Island

We second the "book-em, Danno" movement. -- Miss Mirth Gang. Thanks, Pat

    12/18/04 - Lake WA/Union Bay/Locks/Day trip

Miss Mirth can probably make the 18th. Should be fun. BTW we were out on Lake Washington this AM (Anne, Joe, and Lizzie) Lizzie is 2 now and a bit of a handful on the boat. It was excellent C-Dory weather -- cold and rainy. The clouds were so low I almost lost visibility to the I-90...

    prop repair

Well, we got the re-pitched prop on, and it made a nice little change. The best part is that we seem to move a fair bit faster at a decent cruise speed like 4200 RPM. You can tell it's more balanced than before too. So Marty and I spent the day yesterday on the sound. Put in in Everett and...

    GPS Antenna Head Inside Cabin?

For what it's worth, I have a Garmin 176C, and it works fine with just the little built in antenna. I'd bet as long as you don't fill up the shelf with metal you'll be OK.

    prop repair

Hey Gang, Miss Mirth needed her prop put back in shape after I hit a log in the sound last week. It was pretty rough, and I didn't even see anything. We were just trolling along (unsuccessfully, I might add) and heard a THUNK. Then our revs wandered around and we got a little vibration that...

    03/26 - 03/28 - Jarrell's Cove

Well, the Miss Mirth will be there. At least some of us (Dotty, Marty, Joe, Anne, and Lizzie.) We would love it if we could get some beginner's coaching on fishing in the sound. We got the downriggers on, but haven't had a chance to use them yet. Looking forward to seeing the gang. Joe P.

    new boat

I would seriously consider the Wallas stove/heater. It's pricey and I guess there are alternatives, but it's essentially bullet proof, cheap to operate and does it's job. Lots of discussion elsewhere at this site. Congratulations

What did Santa get you for your boat?

Downriggers! :) And Marty got a portable radio.

Hey All, We had a great time yesterday. I put a few more pictures in the album. See you soon.

    December 2003 Day Cruise

Well, it's raining like heck and pretty cold out, so we're not going to not have a great time. Looks perfect for the drive / boat combo. I'll always remember the advice we got upon moving to Seattle, "you can never have enough fleece and gortex." See you...

    C-Dory vs Express Cruiser

I have a 22 foot cruiser which we just love for family cruising and fishing. I don't know anything about the 25 footer but I'm sure you will hear from those who do. Good luck and welcome.

    December 2003 Day Cruise

Hey gang, Sounds much like a plan. Pat, Anne and I (on Miss Mirth) will be leaving Newport marina around 9:00 then. If you are going to cruise up the east side of the lake, then we can meet you on the way up. If not, then we'll go up to the montlake cut and hang out. Now, what was that...
