    Fishing Lake Washington

Just a quickie diversion to this thread. We intend to spend most of the weekend through Veteran's Day on Lake Washington. Probably two nights at Kirkland and one at Fisherman's Terminal and one at Bell Harbor. We're thinking about Shilhole too. Is it nice/modern and are their shops...

    Fishing Lake Washington

CW knows Lake Washington like the back of his hand. You might want to look up his profile and e-mail him. -Greg

    Inversion confusion

Ok....thanks a bunch for the info. These responses are one reason why this forum is the best. When I arrived at the boat with my new WalMart voltmeter (thanks Bob), it read 12.5 volts and indicated fully charged house batteries. The charger was on minimal charge. I verified this with an...

    Public Apology

I wasn't being a smart-aleck, aside from knowing that this subject will be brought up next year, approximately 3.7 times. I figured it's exhausted for this year, thankfully. Given this, how was my comment hurtful? -Greg

    Inversion confusion

I'll describe my set up and then the problem. I have a new ProMariner 1500W inverter tied to two 6 volt golf cart batteries. The batteries were given to me by a friend. They are "workholic" and are 5 years ago, having been idle the last 3. Charging them and the starting battery is a new Pro...

    Public Apology

Chris, I truly believe the moderators have nipped this in the bud and that future talk of tribal purity will not occur again.....this year. Hope you stick around. -Greg

    Garmin Nuvi with Nautical Charts

FWIW, I just picked up a Nuvi 200 (the last one) at Cabellas for $159. My wife loves it! I did notice they had the Lowrance Xog (?) on sale for $170 that handles marine and road maps. The screen is smaller than the Nuvi. Also, you have to purchase Navionic charts for $200. Road and a simple...

    Boat stuff I like

I would normally agree but I can't tell the difference between the two Coronas. There's about 30 calories difference which allows me to eat a few chips with it, without too much guilt. -Greg

    Garmin Nuvi with Nautical Charts

An older version of Nobeltec. Send me an e-mail and I'll give you a copy. -Greg

    Photo album slide show feature.

I've found it easier to create my own gallery with a link for those who are interested. Speaking of....I use to use Kodak gallery until they wanted to charge $$. Is there a similar service available that's user friendly? I'd love to post some pictures of Terra-Sea-Ta's maiden voyage. -Greg

    Public Apology

I have no problems accepting that this forum is largely focused on Rangers and C-Dory's, and always will. This generates plenty of discussion that pertains to all boats, small ones in particular, which I find valuable. I also enjoy sharing what I discover too. I apologize for using the word...

    Is AIS in the house?

Wow. I remember seeing this site a few months ago. The coverage has spread. It will be an excellent resource for night or fog excursions. Good article. Thanks!! -Greg

    Is AIS in the house?

Very interesting thread. I sure can see how useful this would be on the Columbia River. Is the day coming when active AIS will be on the web, available to all who subscribe? -Greg

    Uh Oh!

Michael, Apology not needed. I wasn't remotely offended. I'm in a tuff business where people often and legitimately vent their frustrations. You're in a tough spot. You have every right to be angry. How about moving? Puget Sound offers unique, year around boating. As for the CA. insurer...

    Raymarine S1 Autopilot Install - Ranger 25

Nice setup. I received a quote for an install on my linear steering trawler. $6000 including the unit. That's a big pill for this kid to swallow. Question? Is there an old fashion device that holds the steering wheel straight? At 6 knots, my boat goes very straight, so little variance is...

    Garmin Nuvi with Nautical Charts

I wouldn't use a 2k laptop either....not in a marine enviroment. Via Craigslist, I buy two year old, IBM Thinkpad lease-returns for $250. They are bulletproof....and somewhat disposable. Chartplotter software is free or close to it. So are the charts. FWIW. -Greg

    Focus

Bingo. I was hoping for some words like this from a moderator. I've been on forums, RVNet for example, where the moderator controls everything, chasing off anybody who is OT and/or disagrees with him. This forum is such a breath of fresh air in that regard. "Just be nice" is the rule with a...

    Focus

I agree a Devlin forum would be nice but Sam himself would have to be the driving force. I didn't buy my Devlin because it's a Devlin. I bought it because I like small pilothouse boats, like C-Dory's and Rangers. That's one reason why this forum is so valuable to me. I belong to Boater's Ed...

    Uh Oh!

Your situation needs addressing on a Fed and state level. Cobra benefits should extend beyond 18 months and some smart legislation would do that. Your problem also lies with the state you live in. My wife, who is uninsurable by Oregon standards, went on the high risk pool too but her premium...
