    EU1000 Versus EU2000

Thanks for the advise, I'll start with the 1000 w unit and see how it does. My primary need is for charging the batteries and it will do that job as well as the 2000. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again

    EU1000 Versus EU2000

Living in Ketchikan where rain is measured in feet not inches. I'm wondering where to run the small generator. I see pictures of some gennys running on transomes and motor wells, but does anyone have a soulution for running one in the rain? Thanks, Law

    Image stabilized binoculars

I started with the Canon 18x50 binocs, but was not happy with their performance. I bought the Fugi 14x40 techno stabi's and am delighted. The Fugi's, as already noted are fully waterproof and float, but they are stabilized for shake as well as roll. They require 4 double AA batteries vs 2 for...

    Thataway

Another way to get a MOB person back aboard is to get them to the outboard (engine off), have them step on the horizontal plate above the prop, and simply raise the engine. This was told to me by a life long resident here in Ketchikan who used this technique to pull himself out of the water...

    C-Dory Quality Control

While I'm cetainly no expert, I do know for a fact that in the three marine climates that I have lived in (South Louisiana, Puget Sound, and S.E. Alaska), any material that can absorb moisture from the atmosphere WILL, not to mention from a direct splash. I am amazed that a respected boat...

    C-Dory Quality Control

Da Nag Re: My suggestion - if you decide to go forward with a purchase, document everything you've read here that concerns you. Supply the list to the dealer when you give your deposit, and make it clear you will not accept delivery of the boat if it has any of the issues on your list. (I...

    C-Dory Quality Control

Having just read the entire "Thataway" thread, I'm curious if anyone else has experienced QC problems with a new TC255. Not having the experience, tools, or skills to remedy the kind of problems that Dr. Bob had, and being in Alaska would be a nightmare. Is there any indication that the...

    I'll Bet Anything...

Larry and Joe - thanks for the explanation. I have far more expeience with those "brutish" diesel motors than gasoline. I've only been running outboards for 18 months. It is difficult for me to run an engine over 2000 rpm, because I'm familiar with diesel torque curves at rpm's, on trucks and...

    I'll Bet Anything...

RE: If you're overproped enough that you're limited to 4k, you're really lugging the engines, which is not good! Sea Wolf - I'm a learner here; could you explain the meaning of "lugging" in the above referenced statement? In the diesel world "lugging" means running an engine at to low RPM...

    C-Ranger 25

OPPPS!!! Please accept my apologies. This was totally unexpected. Combining the threads would be fine with me. Pat - thanks for the link. Wefings -Thanks for the info. I do wish it were a dry exhaust. Byrdman - I too thought I had double vision when I saw it this morning  Does any...

    C-Ranger 25

I hope some of you expectant C- Ranger owners can answer this question for me. Specs on the Ranger 25 are scarce as hens teeth. What type and location exhaust does it have? The prototype had a dry exhaust pipe sticking out the faux stack and I've seen some sort of opening just above the water...

A face only a mother could love

Where is the middle ground between the C-Dory and the Skagit Orca? The Cape Dory would be ideal for us, but they all seem to be located on the East coast. Does any one know what their fuel consumption rate is? We really don't need any faster,(in fact, I wish I had the 75 instaed of the 90...

A face only a mother could love

Thanks for reply Bob. We have all kind of flotsom and jetsom in these waters, but really concerns me is the amount of corrosion you expeienced given the amount of electrolisis protection you had aboard. Is there any hope for preventing electrlosis in an I/O in salt water? Regards, Law
