I agree, Colby. Kodiak brakes are excellent. I had to replace one Tie down Brand caliper and went with Kodiak, non stainless steel.along with their brake pads. It is much beefier than Tie down and has held up really well with numerous launches in saltwater in the Puget Sound area.

I have had leaks through the handle. There is a phillips screw in the middle of the pivot part of the handle. Take it all apart and replace the "o" ring inside. I would check that first before pulling the entire hatch. Thataway is correct, of course. There are many hatches where the opening is...

It's probably just a matter of time until the crack extends into the gear housing. Probably not worth anything in it's present from. You could sell it as parts and someone could extract gears and drive shaft out of the unit and put them to good use. I have no idea what a 27 year old lower unit...
