    Kicker Installation on 26 Venture

Do U all think a high thrust 9.9 is really needed on a 25? I want to put a reg 9.9 or an 8 on, so I can also use it with a small light 14' skiff. Used to push/tow our 42' Grand Banks with an 8 hp Merc on an 10' 6" dingy. Didn't move fast but it worked & that boat was 22 TONS! Roy

    Second anchor suggestions

For my 25, I use a Fortress fx 11 for my back up anchor. 25' of chain & 200' of rode. Works like a pro in Fl. Roy

HOT WATER Dumb question of the day.

Dr. Bob, Thanks again for all the info. I was only going to run my Honda 2000 for the 4 minute 2 gallon quick shower, so the 1800W usage should work. But the Artiston GL 2.5 also looks good, 1500W, and it holds 2.75 gallons of hot water. These 2units are a lot better than the ones I found a few...

HOT WATER Dumb question of the day.

Thanks Marc & Dr Bob, started my research, so far looks like the Chronomite SR 15L is close to what I'm looking for. Only want it to take WARM showers with it when on the hook, no need for constant HOT water. Though at 1800 W & 15A it will max out the Honda 2000i, but I was planning on turning...

HOT WATER Dumb question of the day.

Dr Bob, may I ask what type of hot water you used with your Honda 2000i. I have the same gen, just added a house battery charger, AC going in this winter, hot water is next, haven't even researched it yet. Thanks Roy

how to shelter honda gen from rain while running

Just finished mounting my Honda 2000 I, never thought it couldn't function correctly in the rain! I'd be interested in hearing more about this. Also made a nice 20 amp cable to plug it into the 30 amp shore power inlet. Hey we have ONLY had 11" of rain in the last 4days, RAIN? Too much! Roy

    Dinghy question for a 25...

It's amazing what a small engine CAN DO. I have towed & pushed a 42' Grand Banks [25 tons loaded] with a 8 hp Merc, std prop on a 10.5 rigid bottom dink. Granted no current, but we made good head way. In non Inlet/current areas I would think a 6-8 hp would work fine as a dink motor or get home...

    will a 2000 watt honda gen start a coleman 9200 btu a/c

I just purchased a Honda EU200i generator to run a portable LG 7000 btu AC [stand up] that draws 7.6 amps, as a temporary AC on the boat & hurricane backup for house. Well trying it out yesterday it would only start the AC in normal mode NOT in the eco mode. So it looks like I'll have to keep...

    Details for living aboard

Stan, Our 2 cents, in 2002 we did the "Loop" in our 42' Grand Banks. Everyone said we could NOT do the ICW in NJ because our draft was over 4'. Well we did it! There were some shallow places & very narrow channels, got stuck in the MUCK once & had to wait for a raising tide. Hind sight we should...

    Garmin GPSMAP 640

Stan, I bought that Garmin last year when we decided to move back to Fl. We like it a lot, big enough to see clearly, good functions etc. You can go to "roads" & put an address in, go to "marine" & try & find the home by water, if you can't go back to roads & you can see where the house is vrs...

    Teak trim fasteners

I have done it similar to Localboy, & it held up for years on my Grand Banks. Roy

    Logging into C-Brats with Firefox

Guess I'm just lucky! I only use Firefox on my MacBook & it's always worked fine & I'm a computer DUMMY. Have NO idea what you are talking about. Roy

    Carbon monoxide detectors

Two more things. You can get CO2 from a boat that's 2 boats away.1] Our Grand Banks was tied to a wall, had our windows open, nothing running on our boat, a boat further up the wall had their generator running & our detectors went off. Probably the venturi effect along the wall. 2] This one...

    Any cause for concern?

I'm betting the thickness of the bottom paint on that 4 year old boat is from an extra thick epoxy barrier coat. On my trawler the West barrier coat was almost an 1/8" thick. I would look close at the corrosion. Roy
